The single tip exhaust was 2 and 1/4 Magnaflow custom. THe dual tip is my baby. It is Stromung 3" catless and ceramic coated held up by kartboy extralong urethan hangers.

Thanks for posting these. THats great!!!! It is a bit cleaner now. I promise.
Still need to put the rear diff and Crossmember in. Tonight I am working on some wiring (electronic boost controller) and the scoop and I will have more pics

So even if it never starts, It will look cool, dead, but cool

youll get it running and it will be sweet...
but what are you doing for your whole exhaust? like the downpipe? are you using WRX parts? is the stromung a wrx aftermarket part? if so those are spendy!
i am not sure what i want to do for my exhaust, i need to decide if i wanna use the legacy DP or get a tsudo WRX one off of EBAY...

Yes I am using all wrx parts. It is stromung from the turbo back. And yes it was spendy. Thats why I collected parts for almost ayear before ever enen starting the swap. THe exhaust alone was like 1100 but I split it up and bought the downpipe, then saved and bought the track pipe then saved etc. I did the same eith the ceramic coating. It is coated from the heads all the way back including the turbo. just did a little at a time. I ordered the exhaust from boxer4racing and he had stromung make sure the wrx exhaust would fit my car before ever even sending it to me. Basically of all of the parts, I owe my life Dale at Boxer4racing and Sean at Rallitek gets my first born. I want this car to put out power but being thurough and making it reliable was the first priority.

thats pretty awesome, but opposite of me.. i got the motor as the first thing and had my engine out before it arrived at my house. i relied on help from you guys on this thread, especially matt for letting me know everything about the wiring issues. im hoping that in total ill spend about 1100, and the engine was 850... i know ill end up spending more than this, because the downpipe id like is 155 shipped, and then im thinking about making my own custom 3" from the DP back and having a muffler shop fix me a flange to hook up to the DP... my car wont be as reliable as yours.. or as fast haha, but right now i just want it to run so i can cook some civics! everyone has that urge, but especially me now since i havent gotten to drive my car in a few weeks.. and i see ricers everyday.. im gonna end up buying the legacy turbo radiator in order for me to be able to use that little reservoir that attaches to the intake manifold, it returns to the radiator which my 1.8 rad doesnt have a spot for. hopefully my junkyard will come through a lil quicker this time.. any other suggestions about DP back exhaust? i dont have money to spend 300 on a wrx cat back...
ill figure somethin out!

Yes. The wrx downpipe will fit the stock turbo. If you can find a shop in your area that can mandrel beng some three inch pipe, all the better. My magnaflow muffler sounded dam good. It sounded as good as my friends 02 wrx wit hturbo back m2 exhaust.

I am building mine mostly becasue I love rally. Becasue of the new rules, I cant race my car, I would have to start with a stock car and go up. I race auto cross now and had fun beating 'vettes and stangs with the 1.8L I am doing the whole package now so I can take on modded Sti's and EVOs. and not in straight line speed. THe overall package matters more to me.

Thats why I did nit-picky stuff like the ceramic coating and using antisieze to put everything together and little stuff like that. I want to have a fun reliable daily drivable semi-rocket.

thats tight and i definetly believe in building an overall machine, not just making it fast. money is all thats stopping me right now but eventually my car will handle! think a muffler shop can build a downpipe?? if not i can just get one off ebay and have them build a custom exhaust from there back.

i also enjoy autocrossing, i havent crossed my car, but ive gone with my friends, one has a '91 VW GTI, and the other has a '90 talon tsi awd, so thats been fun. im going to tow my car to the muffler shop and have them make me an exhaust hahaha, once i get my radiator and control arm re-tapped and on...

Yeah with my car I did a little bit at a time. I alloted myself 150-200 dollars a month to buy parts and I just spread it out. I spwnt more if I sold stuff on ebay or like my catback-tax return.

Well, my starter is dead. And My computer wont pick up the signal from my perfect power. Have to wait until friday to buy a starter. Got my clutch bled- HEY MATT- howmuch slop does your clutch pedal have before it becomes firm t opush? How do I adjust mine?

I would get a down pipe but get a good one- stainless something with an open mouth or divorced waste gate. Then do a muffler shop catback. It might cost you 275 depending on muffler.

my 2.25 inch for my 1.8L crush bent was $230.

Nobody in town has a starter

Iguess I could order one and get everything else finished while I wait.

Ok so here is the update.

My old battery was screwed. Bought new optima battery and it goes in tonight.

Bought some diff bushings from TIC. Look great, too small. Working on seeing if wrx mount will fit.

Bought a GM 3 bar map sensor to plug into perfect power for tuning. Ordered the plug and it should be here saturday to wire up that night.

I got the crazy hair to try to get my car running and in some state of a tune to race autocross saturday. We will see what happens.

Rgiht now I have stock springs and Kyb agx adj. struts set to full stiff in the ront and 7 0f 8 in the rear. I have a whiteline 20-22-24 rear sway bar with Perrin endlinks. Alsp0 front and rear strut tower braces

I am gonna change to Tein Gravel coil overs with a 19mm front sway bar and rear 19-30-21 rear bar. But first I am getting the perrin Psrs bushing to ad a little caster. My car is pretty flat right now but It could be better and definately more damp since its kind a harsh right now.

Yes everything for the 98-01 RS fit our car.

that sounds like a pretty nice setup. i just installed rear kyb agx's on my friends talon yesterday and there is a big difference between 1 and 8, its pretty nice though..
for the rear sway, did your car have a rear sway to begin with? i know my FWD one didnt, so i would have to get endlinks and control arms with mounting points first.. which is a hassle.
if you change to the tein coilovers youd be getting rid of the agx's? haha im gonna need some eventually.

If you can go to a junk yard, find a a wrecked legacy or outback or impreza, with control arms w/mounts, they will all fit. I got some off of a 91 or 93 legacy wagon. I got some urethane bushings, endlinks and an anti swaybar from boxer4racing.com. My bar is big and if you come off of the throttle mid corner, the tail is coming around!!!! I love it it make lift-throttle or left foot braking rotation simple. But I want it to be a litlle more nuetral still. I am gonna try to avoid lowering the car as well, since I spend way moer time driving dirt roads thank I do racing autocross.

i want awd... i dont think my tail would come around nearly as good since im just FWD, but still the rigidity it adds is important.

i decided to just get the legacy radiator since i saw no other way of being able to use my 1.8 rad...
i just bought a boost gauge and a wrx downpipe off ebay, but still my control arm wont go in! i still need to tap out the holes and put the new bolts in, and after that it still wont fit, i hate hammering on my car.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Igot the thing started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am an idiot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My car is so danm cool!!!!!!!!!!! I got the exhuast in slight leak but it is quite and smooth... until you get on the throttle. THen its kinda loud and smooth.

Natoe I dont see how your car started. More power and all sorts of props to ou my friend. Without my perfect power, I was dumping so much fuel into the cylinders. I scaled it back quite a bit just so the thing would start and not back fire.

I am getting whistling and posative manifold pressure just above 1000 rpm. thats ridiculous!!!!!!!! I still have a bit to do and hopefully can go tune it fully on wednesday.

Badnews, my left rear hub is bent and the wheel is rubbing my strut, so I have to figure ot what to do about that.

Any way I am stoked. I used to not sleep because I was working on the car, now I wont be able to sleep thinking about the car.

Hey everyone, this is the guy with the talon.

Yup pretty amazing it started first try, and we even were able to use the 1.8 radiator. we just blocked off the line that goes back to it from the resevoir tank (just some sort of air breather thing?). its the damn control arm thats stopping us from going and churning some FWD rubber, Natoe actually broke the TAP as we were rethreading it.

yes! congrats bmxpunk, it is quite a monster sounding engine, and you have the TD04 on it correct? thats awesome... we are so close to having my car ready to drive, but ya, the control arm is being a bitch. im just hoping that it will drive decent since all the overfueling.. revving and quickly off-throttling makes it backfire pretty nice.. haha
lemme know how well your car drives and feels!
