Default Swapping 6 speed into 03 wrx

Well, i know that i want to do this swap and have the money, now i simply need more knowledge. ive been reading on how to do this swap as simple as possible but i have some questions.
Unabomber says that all of this is what one would need to do a swap:
What's involved with swapping from a 5MT to a 6MT? You will need to obtain and install the following components:
1. A complete 6MT transmission.
2. 6MT transmission mount.
3. 6MT clutch fork.
4. 6MT shift knob, 6MT shifter linkage, and 6MT shift boot.
5. The drive shaft from a 6MT or the drive shaft from any model automatic transmission equipped Subaru. The stock WRX 5MT drive shaft may also be modified (will need to be shortened) to fit as well.
6. New rear end options:
a. New ring and pinion gears to upgrade the stock WRX R160 rear differential to 3.90.
b. Convert the 6MT center differential from 1.0:1 to 1.1:1 and use the stock WRX R160 rear differential.
c. Swap out the stock WRX R160 rear differential to a stock STi R180 rear differential.
The real decision to a 6MT swap is the rear differential, as going with the R180, though the "better" choice, raises the costs significantly as you need to use the entire rear end consisting of the STi driveshaft, STi rear half shafts, Sti rear hubs, and STi rear discs to include the Brembo brakes. This will also require the use of 17" wheels as well to accomidate the bigger brakes, which for some, may be an additional expense. As well, www.gearboxtech.com sells the parts that let you use R180 inner CV joints and the R160 outer CV joints if you want to use the R180 rear end and not swap over to the R180 hubs/brakes.

I am unclear as to the cv shafts fitting correctly from my 03 5spd to an 04+ 6 speed in the front. i havent heard much talk of this so maybe its a given but im looking to clear this up. i wont be doing the r180 as of now because dropping everything in will be on a timeline. i have to drop the motor and tranny in as well as new ring and pinion in about 4-5 days. so anyone in the waterford, MI area let me know if youre willing to help! haha. but can anyone answer these questions for me?

Thanks again
Jon

an early 04 sti trans will bolt right up to your wrx axles, late 04 and 05 have a female case and need male axles.

Same regarding the v7 sti transmissions - they work fine on the WRX front axles.

Ehh not quite, they just changed the way the axel separates from the case. The new STI axels have E ring clips on them then hold them in, as so do the old ones; however, the old ones can be separated with the release of a spring ping. (Thus giving you axel stubs sticking out) The rest of the axel can be removed from the tranny simply by using a spanner wrench. They are both female cases, just different style axels.

So to answer your original question, It will become very obvious when you all the parts in your hand, weather or not you can use your axels.

Try this, after you take out your current Transmission, remove the spring pin holding on the axel to the axel stub. Then use your spanner wrench to unscrew the large portion of on the side of the trans case where your axel stub is now sticking out of. Unscrew it, put your axel back together and you will be able to see it as a single unit. I will post some pictures later.

I havent gotten the trans yet, it is being shipped right now, i was just wondering for when i actually did this if i could use the STI axles with my hubs with a little bit of modification.

Thanks again though! Pictures would help a lot too!
