So the T3i is something above average to start with, and can only get better with interchangeable lens's

I wouldn't say it's above average :P It is however one of the best beginner DSLR camera. It was between the Nikon D5100 or the T3i for me. I went with T3i because the D5100 does not have manual exposure in video mode. And because Nikon lens usually cost a tad more than canon lens. However FYI the D5100 has a better sensor which means it has higher image quality if all you will be doing is picture. However the difference is not that important unless you're going to be printing your picture in BIG print.

If I were to recommend a Nikon camera to a beginner, it would be a D7000 over the D5100 to be honest. It has the build of a full-frame, which gives you a feel for if you decide to upgrade to a full-frame Nikon. The 7000 has 2 card slots, a bigger viewfinder, faster shooting, more focus points, a better dynamic range, longer battery life etc..
So I'd say spend the couple hundred more to get the most out of your money if you can. |

a good beginner camera with the same optics as the d7000 would be the new d5200. same sensors same motor as the d7000 but u obviously dont have the fancy screen uptop so you have the adjust everything throught the menu screen. d7000 body is still a couple of hundred more than the d5200 with the kit lens

I'm caught between two available items.. Both which would be used towards or for my car. The T3i... Or passports new HD radar MAX.. I hate these decisions. Oh well, that's what credit cards are for right?! Lol just messin, I don't really drive like a d*** if ever or speed often. I think radars are just one of those things everyone would like to have in their car for some sort of added security I guess. I used to have the 9500i by escort, when I used to work retail at a CVS pharmacy, 2 weeks before Christmas the store stayed open til midnight until Christmas passed. Well I closed one of those nights. And when my shift was over I came outside to go get in my car (still had no idea at this point) unlock the car, and as I'm in motion to sit down I was staring at my seat because I saw something kind of shiny, almost like glitter (I was parked under a street light) so I sat, and looked at the passenger seat to see a huge pile of snow mounded on the seat and door trim, glass all in the shift boot. I was like "what the?" Still clueless, and as soon as I looked at my windshield, my heart dropped. It's the weirdest thing man, you never expect something like that to happen to you.

No, I did in the past. Nothing wrong it an alu. boom, but since I shoot most of the time without an assitant it was a big too much to handle. I decided to source out a carbon fiber boom (not as expensive as other options out there), had it made and so far I'm very satisfied with it. Definitely a lot lighter, I can easily put everyting on and break it down under 5mins, where as the alu. boom sometimes the threads wouldn't always screw on easily. Having ferrules on the CF boom, it makes this so much easier. |

I edit in Lightroom for color balance and exposure. I also check contrast, white and black points, etc, but I usually don't change them much. In some cases I will use the local adjustment brush and add a little more contrast/clarity to the car itself (but leave the background untouched). I do the same adjustments on all of the polarizations. Then I move to Photoshop and layer the images. I straighten and crop at this point. Sometimes I will do minor dodging and burning, but usually not much. That's pretty much the formula for all my car shots. Usually I go for simple backgrounds like trees or rocks. I try to keep a lot of space between the car and the background to increase blur/separation. Kind of boring, but it's a fairly clean look. I would say that I probably spend about 1/2 an hour shooting and up to an hour editing for any given set of 4-10 photos. Not a huge amount of time, but not just snapshots either. Here are some newer shots of the Forester with WRX wheels and sport grill: Looks good. A little cool for my taste, but I understand that's the style. |

Thanks guys. a lot of added blue tones... especially into the shadows. i had 3 different versions of this. warmer. cooler. then the hella-overdone-flared version. ended up keeping this one. its an old shot though. back in my d300s days. upgraded to a d3s back in Feb 2012 when i realized i have this sick obsession with taking photos.

Finally grew some balls to post in this thread. A friend of mine has been asking for pictures of his car so we decided to go out last night. Enjoy!
