Default Sti knock sensor on 02 Wrx hybrid?

Anyone ever done this? I have a hybrid knock issue was just pondering...Or is the Sti knock sensor the same as the 02 wrx, The 32bit just interprets it differently?

Its" tuned "for the size of the motor. So use the EJ257 knock sensor.

Has anyone tried this I think it "might" solve some unwanted problems...If it really is tuned for the size of the motor it would be correct.

So you're wondering if using a 2.5l knock sensor would eliminate the infamous phantom knocks using the 16bit ecu.
Because if so, I am wondering that also.

Yes, yes I am. I am going to try it if no one has I mean this could be it...I have been tuning with RR and ever since this hybrid it loses power randomly from fake knock...

Has anyone else toyed with the idea of using a sti knock sensor when doing a 2.5 hybrid swap?

Just be careful doing this because if I remember correctly the early WRX sensors emit higher voltages than the Sti sensor. The STi sensor requires amplification to get a good signal out of. While you could be fixing the phantom knock you could also reduce the ability of the ECU to detect knock. Since the ECU uses knock to determine ignition timing this could lead to a blown engine since the ECU could advance ignition well beyond the safe zone.

My 02 WRX Time Attack car with an STi motor had very high knock voltage values. This wasn't an issue since I was using a Hydra and could just raise the "knock threshold" map accordingly.
