If you have "evidence supported" information on all the JDM motors I doubt anyone would call you a liar. Everything now is just observation on a very limited sample group. Someone makes a claim and it is eventually proven or disproven, some claims are spread as fact before being vetted and that is bad for the community. Saying the 207 heads are honed from the factory is one thing but a hand port and polish job is something else, I am arguing against the latter.

This is not at all dramatic, nobody called you a liar and nobody discussed the factory machining processes for the heads. This was about factory hand porting and polishing for the Spec C. You can choose to participate, to share your information, this is the whole point of the forum. You have information? share it! Let's see what you got, let's discuss it and improve everybody's knowledge, including mine. The forum is an open place. Sooner or later, the information becomes available. Just received my motor. I have some concerns about the wiring harness that came with the motor. Hoping some of you guys can help?
On the JDM harness, the wiring to the dash has been cut and one of the wires coming from the alternator (not the wires with the brown and white connectors). Can i still use the harness that came with the JDM motor, and just use the wiring from dash and alternator from my USDM WRX? Or could I use my entire USDM wiring harness and just add in the AVCS wiring harness I ordered from IA Performance with the JDM ECU? Or am I seriously ****ed and need to order an entire new JDM harness? Please, any help would be greatly appreciated, cars been sitting for a long time and I really want to get her up and running! I can include pictures if that would help. Thanks in advance. |

Your engine should have come with an un-cut engine wiring harness. This ends with connectors on the sides, above the valve covers, that mate into your car's engine bay harness.
If you have those, then you can re-use the rest. Post a photo of the area of concern. |

I believe this is the part that has been cut that goes to the dash: And these are the wires that have been cut that come from the alternator: Hopefully these photos actually show up.. i havent posted any photos in a while haha. |

you can't use the firewall harness that goes to the dashboard, even if you wanted to. That locates the cluster on the right hand side.
It is not important that it has been cut that way and you will be able to sell it even cut anyway. The alternator harness you should be able to re-use the WRX one. There are those square connectors like the brown and black one, those are the important ones, there should be a corresponding one on the left side as well (can't remember this minute if there are 2 on the left) Also, you may be able to sell the cut alternator harness as well. |

So what you're saying is I'm SOL for the dashboard harness? What do you recommend I do?

the current USDM dashboard harness will remain in use and will do fine. You are not SOL unless you were planning to convert to right hand drive.

Those wiring harness' are seperate and will be able to be pulled away and trashed. They are exactly what you have in your car now. The engine harness exiting on each side of the motor (white and brown connectors) is what you will keep.

Are there any differences in basic maintenance items from the ej205-ej207? Fuel filter, coolant, oil etc??

Spark plugs are different and timing belt maintenance interval is shorter, depending which belt you use.
Take a look at my intro thread maybe will answer other questions you may have. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2385141 |

The part number is different than USDM, so your question falls into the category of what would still work and be not OEM.
I think the answer is in the 207 owner's thread. With this said, I used the Sti pink belt and many use the gates blue belt. Do not forget however that Japanparts has some decent prices and right now have a sale on OEM. An example: Sti wagon grill for bugeye prepainted with Sti badge for $250 or so... Why not buy the belt your engine calls for, if it's not that expensive... |
