Enkei RPF-1 final install pics
Well, i finally got a chance to put these wheels on and check it all for fitment. The wheels are 17x8" ET45 and 15.5 lbs each. Tire are 235/40/17 Potenza S-03 with a section width of 9.7" and a tread width of 8.5". The overall diameter of this tire is 1/2" shorter than stock at 24.5". Stock is 25" diameter so this should be more advantageous for gearing but not enough to throw everything off too much--its 2% smaller then stock which translates to reading 1 MPH less at 60 MPH. Realistically, not a cause for concern.
Back to the wheels though. My car is lowered about no more than an inch all around. There is *no* rubbing whatsoever with this setup. There is plenty of space between the strut body and the tire (About 1 - 1.5 cm still, front and rear). There is less space between the tire and fender lip than there is for the stur, but still no rubbing and my fenders are *not* rolled and the rubber strip is still retained. This wheel looks gorgeous and has a nice lip on it! The W-I-D-E rubber has a great feel to it and looks mean and wide! Did i mention wide? Here are some pics. Click on one for a larger image. For more pics than what you see here, go to this link: http://68.36.14.13/subaru/My_Wrx/Wheels/index.htm [edit] - fixed broken links.

Damn, that looks really nice Cosworth. You've got a nice little contact patch there. I bet you're about stock weight wheel right (Lighter rims + heavier tires)?
I also like those paint matched sidemarkers and those Orciari fog covers. ~Evan |

Thanks for all the comps guys!
Yes, its a prodrive front lip. As far as weight goes... its heavier, but i'm not sure how much. I still have the stockers so perhaps i could weigh them on my scale and see what i come up with. These wheels are 15.5 lbs and the stockers are about 16 lbs i believe. This tire i'm using (s-03) is no doubt heaver than a stock re-92, but how much i'm not sure. so all in all, its a heavier setup but not a tremendous amount like an 18" P1 would be but realistically only the scale will tell for certain. |

Too bad they're ET45. Sounds like theres no way they fit a wagon with that wide a tire.

I don't think you know what you are talking about here. These wheels are semi-forged in a manner similar to the SSR's yet cheaper than the SSR's. They weight only 15.5 lbs and at 8" wide, are wider than the 17" SSR currently available here in the US allowing for proper mounting of wider tires. furthermore, thier spoke shape and offset allows generous clearance for big brake kits. So you comment about thier lack of functionality seems purely ignorant. They may not be the end-all, be-all of wheels, but for the money they offer several positive attributes and good performance over a lot of the alternatives. subjective looks aside, you need to be able to identify certain key concrete features for descent performance. I don't mind discussing pros and cons of anything, but please don't come in here making things up just to be inciteful. |
