So, I've only read up to page 11....
But is this a good mod or not? I heard the stock BOV should not be touched until your using over 22PSI of boost? Or else it will in-fact hurt performance. Does this mod also cause any more of a blow off sound. |

Has anyone seen the results on a tune or dyno? I think that is the major determination for doing this or not?

I got to really drive the car hard over the weekend with some buddies, did about 250 miles around the mountains over saturday night. Going from full brake to full throttle gets me nice, quick and steady spool, and a rock solid hold on the boost, quick vacuum/boost transitions seem to be a bit quicker/smoother as well. About 3 weeks ago we did this to another buddies car who also feels its improved driveability in the same ways i did, all in all this is a winner! I even bought some extra set screws incase my buddies want to do it haha |

I am running this just like above on the plastic bpv but now am running a td06 20g at 22psi on e85. Do you think it will hold up or should i bite the bullet and buy a forge recirculating bpv? I think its still working fine and my tuner was impressed but just wondering how far you guys have pushed this mod befor the breaking point.

For something as serious as drilling a goddamn hole in your BPV, you would think people would have some better photos.
I want to do this, since it's free, but I haven't gained the appropriate confidence here. Where on the stock BPV do I drill a hole in it? |

Bumping this thread again. Anyone got a pic of the side vent hole they drilled on the newer plastic BPVs?

Just did this to mine last night - first drive definitely felt like it was easier to hold boost through shifts. Lovin it.
norbs - I drilled just high enough to be sure to clear the set screw. |

Quick question: I've read through the thread, but I'm hoping someone can explain to me why the stock BPV valve isn't designed this way to begin with? Is it to avoid surge for the "normal" stock driver? Thanks in advance.

yes, the stock valve will open with less pressure differential.
why they didn't just use a weaker spring? who knows. |
