CMR2 was released over in Europe for the PSX. Do not order it because European games run on a different video stadard (PAL as opposed to NTSC). I learned that the hard way. I went to Barcelona and I found Colin McRae Rally before it was released here. I went back home and found out that the video doesn't sync right... the screen just jumps around and you can't see anything. For those of you who play PC games, CMR2 will be released for PC in August I believe and that will work just fine on our machines here... just have to pay the hell shipping from GB. Hope that helps. You can go to www.colinmcrae.com to see screens if you would like...

You can add a chip to your PSX that allows you to play Import games. It also lets you play burned copies I believe.

yea... it will play in the machine once it is chipped.. but the display still does not sync right... this is because the PAL sytems syncs at 50 frames per second and NTSC (what US and Japan use) sync at 60 frames per second... it just wont work right unless you buy a PAL television or converter (both of which are very expensive)

I don't think it beats the game I got last week, mobil 1 rally championship....for PC it needs a 500mhz processor to be run, it' s just amazing...if your system can handle it you should rent it!!

I agree... Mobil 1 is just insane...especially with GeForce2 DDR video card... that game is the closest thing to actual rally racing... I haven't stopped playing it since I got it the day it came out (March maybe..I forget)

A modchip won't help out the Video, all it does is basically let you play import/burnt games. Even the stealth chip doesn't help you out in that catagory. PAL and NTSC, 2 different things....

SEGA Rally 2 is more arcadey. (if that's a word). I've played the old Colin McRae and it's more realistic. It depends what you're looking for, realism or arcade-style. Both games are good for your collection, ad in Rally you can slide forever, whereas in 'simulation' type games, it's as close you could really get to rallying... as someone else said above.

Here's the PAL/NTSC deal with PSX's. You can play them in mod'd PSX's though the display will be off. If you have a cd writer, you make an image of the game (Bin/Cue - CDRWin format) and then patch it from PAL to NTSC (there are universal patchers out for this).

BTW, don't go here if you don't want to know anything more about it.

I have a version of CMR2 that it patched to work on NTSC systems. I have no clue if a US release is planed any time soon, so I'm fine with this version for now.. (CMR1 took 2+ years to get released in the US).

If you're a playstation game collector and have a mod chip or Game Enhancer, and are looking for a copy, e-mail me and maybe we can work out a trade. I've only played for a few rounds on it, but it is a damn fine racing game...
