Here is my breakdown on the price justification: I bought the car for $3,000 I had the following bodywork done for $2,200 ***8226;Fix the crease on the driver's door ***8226;Remove the stock molding on both sides ***8226;Cut out old roof skin (with awful aftermarket sunroof) and weld in stock RS sunroof skin ***8226;New hood ***8226;New windshield ***8226;Cut out all rust spots on fenders and other usual spots (replaced with welded in steel, not gobs of bondo) I bought 4 WRX wheels and seats (front and back) for $500 I bought 5 Advan tires from a SOLO racer (reported by Turn-In Concepts as the loudest tires ever on their dyno) for $? (long forgotten) I bought the front carbon fiber strut brace for $175 I bought the rear (Cusco?!) strut brace for $75 I installed the KYB adjustable struts and stainless steel braided brake lines for about $500 I installed a stock Subaru subwoofer for $100 I installed a generic car stereo for $85 I had Turn-In Concepts perform a custom J-spec swap as follows: ***8226;JDM Swap (EJ20 twin-scroll) $5,200.00 Complete engine with turbo, intake, engine harness, accessories, ECU (non immobilized), Inter-cooler, Down-pipe ***8226;iWire Merge $1,023.00 ***8226;Labor Estimate $2,500.00 ***8226;Dyno Tune $500.00 ***8226;Shell Rotella T6 - quart $35.00 ***8226;Oil Filter Subaru $10.00 ***8226;Coolant $25.50 ***8226;Shop Supplies $85.22 ***8226;FMIC fabrication and parts $1,300.00 ***8226;***8216;04 STI Used Steering Rack $150.00 ***8226;Speed Density Intake $150.00 ***8226;Coolant Expansion Tank $200.00 ***8226;ATF $13.50 ***8226;Used PS reservoir/lineset $75.00 ***8226;PS Bracket Fabrication $120.00 ***8226;Stock Shifter used $75.00 ***8226;Turn in Concepts Linkage Update $80.00 ***8226;Kartboy 5mt Front Stay $30.00 ***8226;Kartboy Rear Stay Bushing $35.00 ***8226;TIC Pivot (Wide) Bushings $20.00 ***8226;Shifter Installation $175.00 ***8226;TS-0204-1102 Turbosmart Race Port BOV $307.49 ***8226;Evap Hose 1/2" $22.50 ***8226;712750 Cobb EBCS GD WRX/STi $115.00 ***8226;Upper Radiator Hose and fabrication $54.00 ***8226;Lower Radiator Hose $19.95 ***8226;AFR Sensor $249.00 ***8226;Alignment $150.00 ***8226;FMIC installation $250.00 ***8226;South Bend Stage 1 Daily $500.00 ***8226;Subaru Flywheel (06-14 WRX) $345.00 ***8226;30531AA180 Clutch Lever $26.62 ***8226;Clutch Install $450.00 ***8226;Hydraulic Pedal Assembly Install $360.00 ***8226;Tax $968.92 Total $15,620.70 I had Turn-In Concepts install a new carpet ($250) when they were putting the interior back together. All totaled that's about $20,000, not counting the initial price of the car. If you discount everything I did by 50% that would be about $18,000. I'm asking $16,000 (less than $500 over just the TiC invoice!). I had the A/C vacuumed dry when I started all this and kept all the parts intact. I've yet to have it re-vacuumed/charged but it should work. This swap was intended to be a comfortable (as comfortable as KYBs and Advans can be ;-)), reliable, daily driver. I lost the dyno sheet :-( but remember it being about 340 at 18PSI. You could drive it ALL day like that or turn it up, your choice. The stock tach goes to 8k, convenient for you since that is now the redline! Sure, the stock brakes are challenged by all the new power but that's where you get to personalize this build yourself, I've done all the hard (and expensive) work. And to top it off, I just got detailed today! I forgot how many kilometers were on the swap, TiC will know. I'm waiting on them to reprint my dyno sheet too. Anyone local or who wants to come to town to check it out can meet me at Turn-In Concepts and they (TiC) can vouch for the swap/work/car in order to satisfy you, if needed. When they were done they told me "The car is awesome! So much fun to drive and very powerful." Disclaimer: Home repairs are the motivation for the sale. I do not need help selling it, won't ship it, will sell it where is/as is, won't trade for anything, no joy rides, I'm not your mother, no low-ballers (I've pleaded my case), etc. etc. Cross-posted to RS25 as well.

Dyno post-price update
I'm not sure where I had the previously posted dyno number from but here is the 3-pull sheet from last weekends dyno day at Turn-In Concepts. Price changed to reflect my mistake.

The car sounds pretty cool, but this Dyno sheet is a bit confusing. Hp/tq don't cross at 5250rpms(scaling?) and it looks like it is making more power than the 277 it says. Plus I thought it rev'd to 8K? Dyno pull only goes to 6?

It was a dyno day so they were cranking the cars out. I think they rev'd them all to only 6k. I think on the left, the lower lines are HP, and on the right the higher lines are HP, which matches the reported peaks.

A-year-has-gone-by-and-I-still-have-it-and-it-is-still-for-sale Bump
Add to the list of items: I bought used RS25 hubs, had new wheel bearing installed, brand new Powerstop rotors and calipers, and new e-brake cables with plans to swap out the rear drum brakes for disc brakes. My garage lift broke and is yet to be fixed so these parts have not been installed but will come with the car. |
