Default 2020 WRX/STI -- Only Minor Tweaks

Seems like the new SGP model has been postponed to the 2021 model year. Dark Gray Metallic is now Magnetite Grey Metallic.

Magnetite is a welcome replacement to the forever DGM. Should look good.

No need to rush. They are doing fantastic across the board. The new Outback, Forester and Legacy are excellent. FA WRX is still king in its class because there are really no AWD competitors at this price point. It is worth the wait for the FA STi.

I haven't been following Subaru closely for long, but it's shocking to me how little is known/leaked about the future models. There's not a single spy photo of the next gen STi. Is that usual?

100% usual. You won't see any spy photos or info about the new model until they release it close to when its actually released.

That's good to know, thanks. I used to live in SE Michigan and there were cars (big 3 and import) all over the road that were years away from release. Subaru seems pretty unique in its secrecy.

I think it was planned. Not postponed.
My question will be... are we going to see new SGP WRX/STI in year 2020 or 2021 spring since 2020 model announced a few months later than normal.

Yep, the color choices have been terrible. Dgm is like taking care of black and the silver is too blue.

I find it odd we have seen NOTHING yet on the new WRX/STI. If the new one is truly going to be a MY2021, then we should have seen a few spy shots or heard SOMETHING. Typically new WRX/STIs sell in April, give or take. That’s not that far away.
If they are really putting a new power plant in the STI and the EJ is finally going to die, thank goodness, it might be taking them a while to get that whole thing sorted. It has been almost 18 years since any major change on the STI.

At this rate, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a MY2022 we see in spring 2021.

For those that skip the first year (I’m very glad I waited a year and bought my ‘05), they’re in for a long ass wait still.

M2 Competitions can be had right now, today.

This is odd, if they are going to start taking 2020 orders mid August.

It was unusual and I am thinking new SGP WRX will be 2021 announcement (Jan) then available around spring or as late as summer T_T.

My 08 Forester XT hit 120000 miles and started to break. I had to replace radiator and AC compressors last month....
I am starting to search other options from other car companies.......

You could also buy 2 base wrx's for the price of an M2 comp. Not exactly the best comparison.

Pop up headlight washers! At last what we've all been waiting for

Also is looks like there's only 2 trims of wrx now? "base" and "high"

STI comes in "mid" and "high" trims too what is this jargon?

Itís the international site rendered in English. Iíd wait until the US site is updated. It also shows 18 inch wheels on the sti.

After looking at the 2019 Subaruís that already have it, it doesnít seem that much different. Iíd like more of a bardo gray if we could.

Besides the color, an electronic parking brake, and the return of leather I donít see many changes. E-brake, hard pass!

Why on earth would you compare an M2 Comp to a base WRX? That’s dumb.

I agree, not a good comparison you made.

There's considerable contrast between the two. But yeah, I agree a lighter gray would be nice. This is Subaru tho. Take it as it trickles.

I'm just hoping they don't throw in the old (6 years old for 2022) Impreza interior in it making it absurdly outdated from the launch. Considering it's going to have to last at least 7 years of model years, they really need to put in something that will hold up for the whole lifespan which this current gen did not.

That's of course if they even make a new WRX/STI. I still have my doubts that they even will. Everyone else is pulling out of the segment so I'm hard pressed to think Subaru will throw money towards it going forward.

It's interesting that they would introduce a new color for just one MY before the new generation.

Same with Lightning Red/Pure Red and Galaxy Blue/Lapis Blue. I guess it makes the one-year colors more of a unicorn though. Galaxy Blue is super nice but you hardly see any of them around.

I have zero doubt there will be a new STI. I'd say they do it BECAUSE of everyone else leaving the segment. More customers for them. I also think/hope it will have a new interior. It'll be about the same time as the next Impreza, so..........(where's the fingers crossed emoji?)

I think they did the same with Dark Gray Metallic for the 2008 Forester.
