The car came back for some upgrades. We upsized the turbo to a GT4094R 1.19(from GT3788R 1.11) as it was a bit too snappy and only made 400kw atw on E85.

The radiator was also a bit **** as it was a budget experiment to begin with. We tossed the copper jeep core and I got an alloy jeep rad and made custom tanks for it. I also curved the core for more turbo clearance.

The intercooler was also originally a hacked up ebay core. I talked the owner into a vertical flow tube and fin core and my sheety mate and I made some tanks for it. It is now mounted to the engine/turbo and moves with it rather than being mounted to the body.

Also made a 4" side pipe to get the bitches at powercruise.

Default Mr. JZK25!! now I do believe.

Sir,
This was the single most interesting thread that I have read in my short time in NASIOC. You lads do very nice work. I own a 2011 Legacy 3.6R Limited first time subie owner as well, I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and have been looking for a set of high quality aftermarket equal length tube headers to upgrade my completely stock set up with. Might you please share with those of us that are very interested who made your headers? I have spoken with Tom from TechWorks in Calgary and he can do a one of set for me however they would likely set me back ~ $7k, if my memory serves me correctly, which is very rich indeed.
I do hope that the client is happy and that you and your lads get the acolades that your work deserves sir.

Regards,

Outlaw57

I don't want to bash people in the community, but I would stay away from Techworks.
If you're interested in a custom exhaust manifold. Give Unobtainium Welding (Langdon) a look, Chris has done a fair bit of welding for me and he is always fabricating new parts when I stop by (Ferrari, Ford GT, Porsche). He isn't cheap but he will make you happy.

I will vouch for Unobtainium. He could do a equal length manifold in 321 stainless for ~3k amazing work

I made all of it. Thanks for the compliments. There is a thousand hours work in it so it is good when it actually works and performs as well as it does(and reliably).

$7k for some 3-1 NA headers? Surely he jests.

Your best gain for not much money with EZ30 and EZ36 NA engines is to cut out the factory cat converter and fit a pair of 100cpi cats and delete the third cat. This opens them up quite nicely and gives them a nicer engine note.

Long tube headers sound terrible on these things.

Default Unobtainium Welding.

Dub c & Bugeyesubie,
Gents,
Thank you for the heads up on the exhaust manifold work suggestion and leaning towards Unobtainium Welding. I will check them out for sure.

How much power do you think doing this will gain? Also, would it be worth it to custom-craft a header-back, or just mod the cats?

It will gain as much as expensive long tube headers will. They only gain power from the cat deletion anyway. The rest of the exhaust is basically hollow anyway as the cats do most of the sound deadening. You have to make a Y piece from the new cats to delete the third cat also so basically new tubing from the end of the headers to the start of the mid section.

What h6 is this? I know if I want to go big power (over 500. Like 750-1000) I'm strongly considering a h6 to make a **** load of power more reliably than a ej257.
