Default Official 2008-09 NFL Thread

Well since the season ended last weekend I thought I would give it a week to let it sink in before starting the new Official NFL thread for 2008 - 2009 Season. So now it is time to talk draft picks and what your team needs.

Looks like the Chargers have to play the Patriots and Colts aagin in the regular season..

But on the bright side it looks like I get to take a trip to London to watch them play the Saints!

What, as in they had one last year?

... no, no, silly. That was a senile old fart wandering around the sidelines daydreaming about NASCAR. That doesn't count as a head coach.

I just hope Chicago gets some good offensive players including linemen. Pretty depressing at times watching them.

Other than that, the draft class is RB loaded.

Yea there are a crap load of RB's which is good because Michael Turner is probably going to be a starting running back somewhere so we will need a new RB to groom

Chad Johnson said on a local radio show the other day that he wants to come here to Carolina. He used to play college ball with Steve Smith and they are great friends. Okay, that made me blow my NFL load. Smith and Johnson on the same team? Wow.

Then Lewis said he'll do everything possible to keep his star WR in Cinci. Rat bastard.

Then I read this today on ESPN.com...

Quote:
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson feels betrayed by head coach Marvin Lewis and is privately threatening to sit out the 2008 season if he isn't traded, according to a source.

Johnson

Johnson was upset after the coach quit speaking to his receiver early in the season, according to the source.

The Bengals star wideout has been making the rounds with the media at the Super Bowl. When asked on Jim Rome's radio show this week about whether or not he was happy with Bengals, Johnson sounded less than happy.

"I'm not allowed to say. I get the blame; the so-called best player, I'm the problem. Someone in-house is spreading this. Maybe they want me to quiet down [and] stop being me. That is not going to happen. I can't function that way. I tried it. It sucked. There was no excitement."

Lewis has said he won't trade Johnson, who finished with a single-season franchise-record 1,440 receiving yards. Johnson has had six consecutive seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards and is under contract with the Bengals through 2011 after signing a $35.5 million extension in April 2006.

"Obviously, there is a lot of frustration with things that happened last year as it pertains to Chad," Johnson's agent, Drew Rosenhaus told The Cincinnati Enquirer.

Rosenhaus tried to explain his client's recent statements to the media.

"What Chad is doing [in the radio interviews] is expressing his emotions and frustration."

Chris Mortensen is an NFL analyst for ESPN. Information from the Associated Press was used in this report.
Though other teams have more cap room than we do...even the possibility of this is so awesome. I doubt it'll happen though.

Yeah, the fiving DeadSkins had a great season, like always. I'm glad Gibbs stuck around for another season as great as they had!

2008/9 = Ahmad Bradshaw, MVP. You heard it here first.

EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!!!!!!

My fanboi is showing.

I say Eagles make a playoff appearance, win their first playoff game and then lose the second to Giants or something.

Why I say? I will tell you now dear one.

McNabb will stay healthy this season. He will lose some weight in the off season, and train heavy in cardio/flexibility things. He will be lighter which will make him less injury prone to the lower extremities he likes to injure, and on top of that make him a quicker scrambler, even if he hates being that.

But, SI05, if your fanboi is strong with this one, why not all the way?

Well, because I see a recieving corps that needs a TO/Moss figure, and I don't see the staff being smart about that for the reason of said TO. They don't want another loud mouth reciever to burn them. I mean, come on, they recruited a super college QB when they didn't need him. They just riled up the rednecks and gave them another thing to use against McNabb, who has done ALOT for the team. I say he shuts up the naysayers with the fewest INT's in a season for the Eagles franchise (probably not league). Also, i see him throwing/running himself to 40+ Td's.

I see Westbrook raping defenses across the country, as he has done 95% of the season. All they need is the heart to stay int he game and make plays, instead of giving the game up (Bears game...WTF was that guys?!?!?!)

That is all.

Just checked...the Giants are still NFL champions and the Patriots are still losers!

And also this:

Quote:
Pats, Kraft, Belichick sued for $100M
Former Ram seeks compensation for Super Bowl loss

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- A lawsuit filed Friday by a former St. Louis Rams player and others seeks millions of dollars in damages from the alleged taping of Rams practices by the New England Patriots before the 2002 Super Bowl.

The Patriots won the game 20-17 in the Superdome.

The $100 million suit, filed on behalf of former Rams player Willie Gary in U.S. District Court in New Orleans, names the Patriots, team owner Robert Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick.
