It's just too bad that the quad tip hatch "V2" exhaust drones so much. Oh well.

I'd love a 450WHP car with a stock exhaust a lot more than a 300WHP car with an N1. A LOT more. LOL.

You still pay for those; most of them are port installed options.

I'd rather feel fast than be fast trololol

Then again, the increased exhaust noise helps give a more visceral experience

in the end what else matters, its not like we are serious racers who make a living off of it..lol

still its pretty fun to roll up to some loud ass car with stock exhaust and leave them in the last county...not sure if ive actually ever done that though

ideally what I would like out of an exhaust system is: a nice startup sound that doesnt turn into awful drone at warmup rpms, sporty tone at middle rpms, aggressive at high rpms and dead silent when cruising. I don't think its possible, they always end up being too annoying or too quiet.

electronic cut outs are tempting but I'm afraid of leaks and it will probably just sound stupid loud when you open it.

I'll probably either stay stock copy xluben's SPT idea

too broke for mods atm

sort of along the same lines, last weekend I saw an STI hatch in long beach, NY that had cuda style tips, didn't look as good as I thought it would

True. I personally will get an exhaust and enjoy it, and since I have no intentions on racing this car anyways, I don't really need to look or actually be fast.

Just a few older pics.

I am going to get the front end repainted and STI grille and spoiler on soon. Suspension is stock in those photos, but I now have Bilstein/RCE yellows. Will repost new phots in a few weeks.

Wheels are 18" Prodrive GT1's.

I love my QTP electronic exhaust cut-out! I've had some custom fab work done in order to bypass the right pair of exhaust tips when the exhaust is opened. Mine is preset for 19, 50 and 100% open via the controller.

It's been on the car for a couple of years and has been great! I have not had any leaks, butterfly valve or controller issues, etc.

My Greddy STI exhaust is pretty quiet and even with the exhaust fully opened the sound is not over-powering unless you get on it...pretty noticeable then.

Plus, I get nice Whp gains by having the cut-out.

From what I've read the people that have trouble with cutouts are the ones that have the butterfly valve exposed to the elements at the end of the pipe, ie nothing after it so salt ad dirt can reach it. So it seems like if you have a 2-3ft custom pipe after the butterfly valve or have a bypass setup like Vapors09 it should be fine. I've also heard you can extend the life of the valve motor by sealing the rubber "boot" with silicon so nothing can get between the rubber boot and metal motor.
