The difference is that Tom's first post was complimentary of the video. And it wasn't until you lost it over, "fanboi" and told people who didn't hold your opinion to hold theirs that things spun, hilariously. Ya know, just facts and stuff. Whatever.
I'd love to have KB's budget, too.

wait, I beat KC in HIS car, TWICE! Once in the 8, once in the WRX. So I'm twice as awesome as KC and 3 times as awesome as James. KC beat Hoppe, so by proxy I'm more awesome then "Hoppe is a p00s4y" too.
Calling out Karen = not smart. Unless you like wearing the Bud dress. [insert buckley picture] ps. would all you wankers get back to work now? jeebus! I'VE GOT BMW'S TOO BEAT! I CAN'T BE WASTING TIME READING HILARITY LIKE THIS! pps. TGIF |

Are you 2 feet from trees and "sideways" (not just a little drift) while doing so?
And it's really sad, IMHO, to hear "you don't understand unless you do it yourself" coming from you SG. I would have thought better of you than to pull that one out. I understand rally just fine. It's not up to you to say I don't have that comprehension. While I don't know the 'FEELING' of being a navvi/driver, I understand the sport well enought to know, without a shadow of a doubt, that no one does 100mph, 2 feet away from trees, sideways (unless it's immediately followed by balling their car up). I've put out a call already... show me a video of a rally driver (US/WRC/Whereever) going 100mph/160kph, sideways, 2 feet from trees. (not just a slight drift at turn in through the turn, but sideways.) --kC |

This car has been a long time in the making and we are happy that more people are getting to see what the car is really capable of.

I have raced Solo/Autocross for years. It is a ton of fun. I have roadraced several seasons. It is a ton of fun. I have raced stage rally. It is possibly the most fun thing I have ever done while dressed. Now I just wanna borrow Ken's car. Just for a little while. I promise I'll be nice to it!!! |

rallying is dangerous If you want to win, you will take risks. Sometimes things go wrong and end tragically Most times the risk takers end up finishing heroically. again. This thread is not about a petty bull**** pissing contest I'm not calling anyone out. I'm not doubting the racing and vehicle knowledge of any of you. But I'm gonna have a good laugh at those of you who have not done it and dare to question it..... Please. stop. the need to make this into a debate and try to enjoy the skills you see before you huh? please? |

So OK, here's some first-hand examples. Now maybe we are not the ultimate fastest rally doods, but we try not to let moss be growing under the car if you know what I mean. There have been a good number of times we've been plenty 'sideways' on some top-o-5th-gear kind of bend, (where ANY sliding gets your eyes like ) maybe not 2 feet from trees but close enough so I was like, "Gaaaah!--we are going WAY too effing fast to be this crossed up!" A real live 100+ mph, 6- bend is hardly a 'corner' at all, it's more of a kink in a straight road or a loooong gentle sweeper. The car might well be sliding a bit, but looks more or less straight on the road to a spectator. But from inside that car, believe me it sure feels sideways. Back on topic: the commitment level of top rally guys like KB just blows my mind. On stage, Block/Gelsomino really DO commit to skeery bends at speed in the way KB was doing in the gymkhana vid -- but instead of plastic barriers, there are pines and boulders to miss. For me, the real impact of the vid was realizing that KB doesn't drive that much different in a low-stakes environment like an airstrip than he does in the woods. Dave G |
