Thumbs up Sunday BackRoad Drives , Feb 10th...New

Hello Drivers, This coming Sunday Feb 10th, people who enjoy backroad driving will be meeting at the Home Depot parking lot on Rt23N just 1/2 north of 287. The meet time will be 8:00. This Sunday Drive will take us up north.

If you interested in coming and/or know some good roads please post. We will work out all the details as we get closer to sunday.

It looks like it should be a good turn-out from the replys from last weeks thread. I look forward to seeing some new faces and I hope some of the "SBD" (sunday backroad drives) regulars can also make it.

Thanks all
Mitch

Check the maps then contact me.
As I said in last thread, think Walpak area. The roads to get there are very nice, and then we need to do some exploration.
A lot of the dirt roads back in the trout preserve are not listed.
Some of the roads around Walpak inn are intense. Then from there we hit up Sussex Valley into and over High point.
Like I said before it all depends on how much time you want to spend.
More time the bigger the loop, I’ll stretch it over to Hudson valley if you want.
Let me Know when you want directions to my office/meeting spot.

Maybe I can meet up with you guys once you head a little more north - I'm in Sherman, CT - a couple miles from Rts 22 and 55 in Wingdale...

If you guys *do* head north, I'm definitely in.

My car was totaled today, An employee wraped the passenger side door around a tree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This really SUCKS!!
He's Ok but my car is smashed!!!
I really loved this car, and I almost lost a good friend.
I'm bummed to say the least.
I'll post pictures in a couple of days after I compress them.

John, Im really sorry to hear that. At least the driver is OK. If you still want to come you could ride shotgun with me and show us some new roads. Just an Idea.

ScoobieRu, I was planning on staying in north jersey and zig-zagging our way up to high point. If you cant meet us down by 287 maybe you could meet us for breakfast. I have to look at a map but we usually stop to eat on rt23 about 25mi south of high point.

So who's in for sunday? Lets make some plans.

see ya

Question How Close To Phila Area??

Can you tell me how far from the Phila Area you are?? I have read a few posts and sounds like you have a blast on these drives... Just wondering if it would be close enough for me to join you. If not ever make it to the Phila area??

i may be in for Sunday depending on when i get back from the rally in NH on Saturday night

I know alot of roads that Goldman is talking about. If he wants he can drive with me and tell me where to go. Not to take over or anything, but i here that you drive pretty fast.

YOU CANNOT DRIVE FAST IN NNJ.

Trust me i know this all to well. I have many tickets and points to prove that. You can go fast on the side roads and stuff but DO NOT go over the speed limit on 23. They will rape you especially as a group and on a Sunday morning. That is when they are the worst up here.

I will keep you posted as to if i am coming or not. I am sure you can make Goldman's house a stop. It has plenty of parking. Plus i am sure he would like to see everyone.

speedrkj, how close will we be from philly? Not very close. We did a drive a couple of months ago that had us across the delaware 3-4 times. It was a covered bridge thing and Lark6 led the group. We were in the New Hope area. I would like to do that drive again but just waiting on the Larkguy.

Billy, I hear ya about the brisk driving. I dont play until Im on the backroads. If you can hook up with Goldman that would be great. If you know where the nice twisties are then you can lead. My pleasure.

Savka, most of the roads that I know are asphalt. I've been riding a sportbike for years on twistie backroads and know quite a few exciting loops. Sometimes we do hit some dirt and I feel out of my element but thats Ok.

Ok drivers who can make it for this Sunday. We are shooting for 3-4 subies. It should be about a 4 hour loop plus stops for food. Early day with low miles.

Who is in?

I'm sorry, I can't make it this weekend. Even though you'll be ten minutes from my house. I've got family stuff to do.

Jon,
So sorry about your car. Glad your friend is okay though. That's what's important, right? Hope he learned from whatever happened. If you are looking for a new car, you can contact Wayne Subaru. Just tell them that Patrick Chin sent you, and they will take very good care of you.

I'm in for sunday but no car, yes i will ride shot gun with you or Billy, I'm shure there will be a lot more than 3-4 cars.
Billy's a wiz at the cell. get my drift?
I already got a white WRX with leather inter on order.
i'll have extra money for all the good parts to go with it!!!
can you say oz wheels>?
I will have the honor in showing you my area and we'll loop over to the hudson valley we can mix the dirt and pavement.
Billy really wants to see the dirt in walpak.
again check the maps before you come.
I was talking to a fisherman from there today and he says one dirt road maybe 10 miles long, and i know there is more than one!
I'll find a local map before we go.
And like i said the roads and the route i have picked out to get up there should be fun.
I'm about to post a couple of photos in tri state on wreaked wrex
i'll show them all to you guys on sunday.
e-mail me

P, too bad you cant make it. Maybe next week?

Gottafly, hey welcome back. Are you on call sunday?

John, how long of a drive do you have planned? Im good till about 1-2 pm. I have good local maps of north jersey, if needed. You think we'll have more than 4 cars? Excellent. I'll PM you friday for directions. My road surface preference is asphalt. Im just not that accustomed to the dirt and the paint takes a beating.

Hey guys, It look like we only a few subies for this Sunday. We need more cars... Tell your subie friends to show up

Current list

Gottafly
Savka
RS22b/Goldman?
MorriscountyWRX? Come on Ran its been to long
4or2wheels

2-3 more would guarantee 5 subies. Thats seems to be a good group. Not to big to attract attention and small enough to keep everyone together.

Please post today if your coming. I will check the thread in the morning to see if theres any last minute changes.

Thanks
Mitch
