Idle air whatever control, weird idle
Got a weird idle, I think its that thing that I can't think of... hoping some one here can help me out so I can search on how to clean/replace it... IARC or something weird....
In any case, I put my car back together after winter and the idle was a little high (1.5k+).... I've been saying for a week now I'd fix it but its so damn cold and I work hard and well..... I'm just lazy. Anyway at the auto car wash today something weird happened. I'm sitting there at my usual 1.5k idle, in neutral.... when all the sudden its like the ecu took over and dropped me down to 900.... And for about 5 seconds it was a steady 900rpm idle... but then after every 2-3 seconds there would be a quick surge down to 800 or so and then it shot back up to 900... It was barely noticable by the tach, but you could hear it in the idle. Anyway, when I reset my ECU it goes away and I go back to idling at 1.5k.... but if i let it idle for more than a few minutes then I get that weird idling AGAIN. It also effects the car during very slight throttle position.... I'll get bucking if I just press the gas in like 10***37;, but if I put it about halfway down its fine. Maybe its just a dirty maf....

Thanks, the IAC wow I was even saying Idle air control but I was thinking that was wrong.... Codes I have no idea my check engine light is always on due to my "leaky gas cap" thats turned in the whole way... i'll grab my friends obd2 scanner tomorrow though and we'll see.... i'll start by cleaning the maf and iac tomorrow though |

def check the codes...that may tell you exactly what you need to clean/fix.
and that small leak you have, may not be from your fuel cap, could be a leak anywhere in the system...charcoal box...somone found a small leak in one of the lines under the hood that threw that code... i would search the PXXX and you'll probbaly narrow it down. if you cant, and it doens't pose any real problems, you can probably defeat the code if you're using a reflash software... i was throwing a TGV code that doesn't affect ish so i just defeated the code to be done with it, now no more CEL. that way if you throw a CEL for a real problem you'll know about it |

I actually got completely sick of it one day so I took it to a dealer, they tried finding the leak.... cost me a couple benjamins for them to tell me "we couldn't find the leak...." followed by "you should just leave it because you'll end up spending more money on finding it than what its worth" if enginuity can clear the code, tell me how lol |

don't know how enginiuty works, but with street tuner i just check the box next to the PXXX code and it's put to bed.
