Yup, to a guy that lives 1900 miles away. I picked up the buyer at the airport and he drove the car back.

What kind of paperwork was involved? Seems convoluted and time consuming based on what I've read on the dmv site. The buyer also wants the car to be shipped.

Guys must have been nervous as crap. They were not playing like the past few months. They better snap out of that cuz jersey has hope now.

Look on the bright side. No riots last night from all those Kings fans. *crickets*

But srsly, those Kings fans just came out of the woodwork last night. I'm merely a few blocks away from Staples and I've never seen it that packed for a hockey game before. Then again, E3 is also going on right next door, so I don't know how much of that is hockey traffic and how much is geeks/nerds.

Yeah, and those E3 peeps were smart.. booking entire restaurants for dinner.
lol... riots? come on.. you'll be seeing a bunch of Kings fans hugging, patting each other on the back, and crying tears of joy.

The big difference was mine was a face-to-face transaction. The usual process. All I did was fill out the pink slip. I sign, buyer sign. Mail DMV the Release of Liability Form. Done.

The issue I see you having to deal with is shipping the car out of state plus the buyer isn't around to sign the paperwork. Haven't dealt with this before. Once I hear *shipping involved* I see RED FLAGS. Extra caution needed.

I trust the buyer. He's an old friend. It's just a matter of seeing what kind of nonsense is involved considering he has to pay Cali its money before he could even think about regging for Jersey, which is a pain in the ass process in and of itself.

Don't quote me on this, but I don't think your friend in Jersey will have to pay CA taxes & CA registration fees since he's not going to register the car here. The tax is paid when one tries to register the car bought at the CA DMV.

That's what I figure. It doesn't make sense for Cali to collect tax on him, but then again, I don't know why we both have to fill out notarized Reg 227, PoA, and why they need a good amount of his information?

What the? Why a REG 227 Application for Duplicate or Paperless Title and Power of Attorney?

I'm guessing because he needs to sign the pink slip and he's not in person to sign it hence the silly paperless title? I dunno. But if you think this is bad, try driving your car through a developing country and going through customs. I had a friend that took a week to get through customs from Sudan to Egypt. Took me 1 1/2 days to get through customs from Belize to Guatemala.

I think all he needs is pink slip. and you should fill out release of liability.

as far as registering a car here. all you need is the pink slip. at least when I registered the evo.
