Default Why does my clutch release when I start to push on the peddle?

Is it normal to be able to change gears-shift through the entire range of my clutch peddle throw? My 05 OB-XT has always had a strange clutch peddle feel. And the feel of the shifting is notchy-like the clutch is not fully released. The clutch also has squeak towards the end of its throw next to the fire wall. SOA said the squeak is a known issue and will fix the problem once they figure out what to do about it. Has anybody had similar issues with their dual mass flywheel clutch?

The notch may be that you need to change the transmission fluid.

The car has less then 6000 miles on it-do you think the trnsmission oil is low or high (ie the oil is whipped)?

Since this sounds like a new car to you, perhaps you are just not used to how the clutch and shifter feel for this car.

Does a dual mass flywheel, clutch and pressure plate feel different then a conventional OEM solid flywheel, clutch, with spring dampeners, and pressure plate? I know the spring dampeners in a conventional clutch compress about 1 mm; however I do not know how much the springs compress between the center and outer ring of a dual mass flywheel. Regardless of the dampening mechanisms, shouldn’t the pressure plate engage and disengage the same in both types’ mechanisms?

When I first got my WRX I didn't like the way the clutch released so close to the top of the pedal travel so I adjusted the rod that goes through the firewall by the throttle. It allowed me to move the engagement point.

Also, I had the squeak and just ignored it. It's gone away now.
