Default Calgary Subaru Drivers

Looks like this regional forum is pretty dead!

I imagine all of you are on facebook but I deleted mine. Oh well.

In the off chance anyone sees this, is there any Subaru meets in Calgary? I've been to the Tim Hortons show on weekends by Barlow a few times, but drag racing isn't my thing.

Curious if anyone doesn't mind risking some gravel paint damage because there are a few roads out by Waiprous that are just beautiful. And by beautiful I mean scary as all hell. Curious if anyone would be interested in getting together with a couple of radios to spot a few sections of this road. For completely legal, yet spirited driving.

Cool, just checked here today for the first time in months.
I’ve had my STI since last summer and haven’t gone to any Subie meets yet and I was thinking it’s time. Mine is a pavement princess though.

What year did you get? How are you liking it so far?

I'm sure you've explored some of the great paved drives in and around the province. Aside from highway 40/1a, Mt Norquay Road, Morraine Lake Road, Jamieson Road got any recommendations?

I bought a 2011 hatchback. Love it so far. After a month of ownership last summer we took a drive down to Yellowstone National Park and put on a good 2500km weekend. Loved every second of it. Had a few parts installed last month, Killer B oil pickup and baffle, Radium Eng AOS (a must!), a Cobb turbo inlet hose, new timing belt and Tomei belt tensioner. And new Wedsport 18x9.5 wheels+ tires. My goal is longevity, it's the original block with 126xxx kms.

I like the roads south Kananaskis, between Bragg Creek and Okotoks there's so good curvy sections.
I like the idea of some spirited cruises sometime soon!

Nice. I always liked the hatchbacks, I hope they bring them back.

So far all I've done is a stage 1 tune, everything else is stock. Eventually I'd like to get a stage 3 flex fuel but I'm waiting a bit for that.

If you get a chance, head north on Highyway 40 from Cochrane. If you haven't been out there I highly recommend it. Pavement quality is kinda sketchy in spots but man is it a fun drive!

Did you just go with a Cobb AP off the shelf stage 1 tune?
This is my next mod this summer.

Yes. Everything else is stock. It made a big difference, especially when I switched from shell 91 to husky 94.

I recently switched from Petro 91 to 94 and I notice a difference. I need an AP.

I guess we’re the only two folks on here. I’d be up for a spirited cruise sometime soon!

I hear ya, I only have a kitten, not the same level of commitment.

If Tuesdays don’t work out well, as they never do for me. Sunday morning there is a gathering of cars at The Rec Room in Deerfoot city, at 10:30am. I’ve gone the last two weekends. Their group is called “Still Plays With Cars”. Mature group of people. Could do a spirited drive following except I’m away this weekend.

Unfortunately the regional forum is quite dead. The Subaru scene has definitely transformed into a different crowd with all the RHD JDM imports.

I think at least in Alberta WSC is more active, along with the other local forums. But we have 3 of us posting in here now!

Edit: and I thought my account has been active a while, 2000!

I bought a used Accessport V3 today and installed it. What OTS map do you use?
ACN / CAD 94, normal, high, low wastegate
91 OCT, normal, high low wastegate
93 OCT, normal high low wastegate

From what I can tell, use the ACN/CAD94 normal wastegate when using Husky 94 or Petro Canada 94 but must be 10% ethanol.
91 OCT normal wastegate when using any other 91 octane fuels...

And Sport mode and Sport# mode can change the peak boost?

Did I get everything there?

Yes. I recommend only the ACN91 map, and the wastegate is just whether you are hitting target boost. Cobb recommends starting with normal and then adjusting it if you are over or under boosting.

Our gas is utter ****e. I tried the 93 octane map at first, and while it was a big difference over the acn91, I was getting alarming knock readings on it. With the ACN91 map I rarely get anything over -1.4. The ACN91/CAD94 is the least aggressive map, even the regular 91 map is more aggressive than the ACN map. You might be able to use it though, but just watch your knock readings.

Yes the si drive system is now your boost control. I missed the sharper throttle response in sport# at first, but I think its better this way.

I'm on WSC as well btw, user name is B_Dub.

Default Hi All

Hi everyone - This is my first post in the forum. I bought a 2019 WRX from Subaru Calgary around the end of September. I know it's a bit too late in the season to ask about winter tires but I'm looking for some advise. The dealership is offering 17" steel rims along with 235/45 17 X-ice tires for 1445+taxes. Storing of ties is 90 bucks per season. Is this a good deal?

Edit Bought the tires and rims from Costco website. They had an offer till tomorrow.

Default Legacy imported headlamp issue

Looking for advice. A client of mine has imported a JDM 03 Legacy turbo and a shop has failed the provincial inspection due to headlamps being Japanese and not certified for North America. This car has factory HID lamps and I am not sure where to purchase Sae or DOT certified lenses for it, need help.
