Got the uprights welded in and test fit it on the factory subframe. Everything lines up so its time for bracing.

Front side of the control arm mount drawn up and mocked up in cardboard. I'm boxing in the other side tomorrow. More goodies ship out Tuesday, and I'm ordering my chromoly at the end of this week.

Thumbs up

This is an awesome project. I've seen a few on "norotors", but I love how each has its unique build qualities. I like your method. Very nice fab work. I also love your attempt to work on it in the school's parking lot. I got a similar warning from my dorm admin when I tried to do something similar back in college.

You planning to stick with that truck intake manifold?
Doing any motor work before you wrap it up?

opcorn:
Yep swapping out the truck mani for something more boost friendly like the holley hi-ram or fast lsx. And I'll be going full forged bottom, 243 heads, etc. All in preparation for boost.

And for the update

Lower coil mounts and new ball joints showed up so I put most of the front end together.

This should make sheet metal work a breeze.

Should be enough to cover front and rear subframes, trans mount, and tunnel. Unfortunately I'm on Christmas break tomorrow until next year so progress will be stalled for the time being.

Control arm mounts are finished. I kind of dicked myself with a bunch of tight corners and grooves to weld in on this one. Alot of it I had to weld out of position to get everything covered. Definitely improving on my consistency around corners where I previously struggled.

Next up I'll be mounting my rack and deciding on a transmission mount.

Front half of the subframe is done and fits snug.

So in the quest for perfection I was not satisfied with the look of the transmission mount inside the car. So after much deliberation I decided to cut more of the floor out to make room for a frame rail connector. The transmissions mount ties both frame rails together eliminating any worry I had about twisting the original. I promise this will be the last one.

8.8 inches of Murica.

And spare tire is gone. Rear differential mocked up. I'm not happy with any of my subframe designs so I can't move any further.

Rear tube of the subframe is cut and notched. Mehh quality photo thanks to my shoddy garage lights.

And my 1.5" notcher lost all its teeth. Time for another.

Rear diff support is tacked and fits good. I'll finish up cutting and tacking the remaining mounts together.

Gussets added. Don't mind the points, I'm going to contour them along the radius of the tube when I finish weld them. Now I'm waiting on finding hubs so I can sort my lateral link spacing and mounts.

Small update: tie rods showed up early so I got the old ones off and the new ones situated.

Took out the L dash beam and replaced it with the rs beam so I could bolt up my column.

Encountered my first problem with my lower engine placement. The steering joint comes up a slight bit short. Going to cut it at the welds and replace it with some extended one inch tubing.

And the differential fits snug and out of the way. The housing is to heavy to put in by myself so the cover will suffice for your viewing pleasure.

Filling up my argon Monday before class, and hopefully this guy with hubs gets back to me.

Picked up my argon this morning

And did some welding

Plan is to use stock steering rack mounts but I want stock style clamp mounts machined. The stock ones are beefy enough.

All work is done at my house, the dorms wouldn't have liked this kind of stuff.

Extended the steering joint today. Definitely want to make some tie rod spacers to help with future bump steer.
