As a third car it's still down on the list.

Because it's already a poor man's Cayman. They make a GT3 version then the whiners will break out in force "It costs too much!" and "Too expensive for what it is". Instead, people need to be extremely happy we got this. At least it's light, RWD, 6MT, and has a LSD. Anything else, someone needs to go to Porsche or something and not complain.

I know the stereo sucks sweaty donkey balls. Watched a couple of owner vidz and the stereo got torn to ****. In other words, same old Subaru

I like that analogy. And unlike a 968, I can afford replacement parts for a brz.

BRZ being a parts bin car is kinda nice. Just gotta source some GD WRX or GV STI parts and you're golden. Legacy BRZ GT!

Yeah, I think many of us could afford x, y, and z. I know I’m at the point with this next purchase that I could spend considerably more. I just think all cars have gotten absolutely ridiculous, akin to the current used market right now. MSRP’s are just out of control. Enough bird sized brain humans just keep going back and back to the trough so manus are continuing with it. Aircon seats and all this bull **** mod con, car drives itself, car alerts if someone is next to you, with the got damn root of the problem being phones.

Just disable the phone if moving past 10 mph, period, unless using AA/AC. All the manus are doing is being enablers to a bunch of crackheads. Whole society is crack heads now. Everywhere I go, the crack head cannot put their pipe down. 24/7 on the thing. It’s sad and pathetic, these people. You get one single life, and it’s extremely short. How do you spend that time, that is worth more than money, time is worth billions of dollars. They spend it on a 5 inch or 6+ inch screen.

Anyways, yeah car prices are ridic. It really hit home to me 2 years ago, buying a PWC. I looked at Jet boats too, specifically a wake boat, dual 1.8L inline 4’s. Should be called a surf boat as you can let go of the line once upright as the boat makes its’ own wave that you can surf. Geez a 21’ version, all tricked out, is CHEAPER than most of the performance cars. That’s cray-cray. I can afford double to triple what the 86 costs, but all be damned if I’m going to spend that on a car, any car. F that. Toyota better pull out all the stops on the GR Corolla or else this new 86 platform is it for me. I win either way. I either get a GR Corolla version of the GR Yaris, with front and rear LSD’s, or if they f it up with no diffs, I get a new base 86 with PP, and same day I’m hitting the Ducati dealer 3 miles from me and getting a V4 Pan the same day.

I might be drunk (I am) but I don't think most people buying a third car are looking at the twins. My apologies if I missed a joke (see previous).

That being said I am not in the market for this at all, but I would love to drive one! It is probably more fun than my '01 Z28 that I crashed when I was 22. One of my neighbors lost a twin (triplet?) in the Ida flooding that claimed the WRX and FXT and replaced it with the British green 86 (?) with the gold wheels. Haven't met the guy yet but I hope I get to!

Pre, you are doing crackheads a disservice by comparing them to these phonophiles. At least the crackheads have real issues. I routinely observe at least 60% of people still looking at their phones when the light turns green (coming from the opposite direction). I drive (admittedly aggressively v defensively) like everyone else is actively trying to kill me because I know people are either on the phone or just have no awareness. Add in all of the flashing billboards and the manu's pushing more tech that contradicts what the bb's are saying. oi

I think Porsche can do this cause they can ask $50k more, but Toyota can't - people (besides a few of us) won't pay a big premium for a tuned normally aspired motor unless it comes with a Porsche badge.

I wish they would put the 1.6L from the GR4 in the BRZ. Sounds like a sweet motor.

Leave it to Subaru/STI, you will pay S209 money for something like that.

I drove our '22 BRZ Limited Tuesday after it was PDI-ed. It has significantly more pull (relatively) in the previous torque dip range and overall feels like it wants to rev especially in track mode. I didn't push it hard at all but the car just has more usable oomph. I'd reckon it feels faster than my tuned and bolted '13 BRZ. The piped in noise is pretty loud though.

The suspension feels much more refined than before but had a noticeable amount of body roll. Steering feel was OK, I replaced the steering rack bushings on mine so that's what I'm used to. It was less communicative than my ZLE though. The clutch and transmission felt pretty much the same which is a good thing. Fit and finish, again is great for the price point. The interior door armrests are WAY better and have better ergonomics. I really liked the gauge cluster but I wish that you had the track tach display on all the time. You still need to put the rear bench down for golf clubs though.

I am very excited for a tS version with a stiffer suspension, BBK, aero bits etc. I wouldn't mind a 2nd track toy.

If this car can really hit 0-60 in less than 5.5 seconds while feeling "fun" in the process, it's going to be a huge win for the people who want a fun sporty affordable car. Sort of practical, sort of fast, and sort of cheap is basically a blackhole in the market -- there's nothing like that in RWD.

With the way car prices are going it’s a bargain for sure.

They borrowed an aftermarket Borla header from an FR-S and 1) discovered it mates right up and 2) the torque dip is lessened a bit and torque gained is about 13 HP. However, overall peak HP is lessened by about 3 HP.
Obviously this is before tuning it, and peak HP isn't really where this car shines. Pretty exciting stuff!

Nice! Borla can up the size of their headers and use the same basic fixtures. I bet that will take care of the top end loss with little differnece in the midrange.

monroneys from all makes are starting to say stuff like this. Dealers set the price, etc.

Saw a fresh blue new BRZ in a mall parking lot yesterday, they look really good in person, much better than in pictures. I hope they sell these as long as they did for the previous generation, I'd like to get one.

I'd take this with a grain of salt. I inquired with a dealer near me (non-Subaru) about any additional markups they had on their new vehicles, and they said they don't have any markups...except that all their cars get a $3300 dealer accessories package that you can't negotiate out of. So what they meant was "no market adjustment" except the market adjustment you pay in dealer accessories.

I placed an order for a BRZ back in Sept for $500 under MSRP for Dec delivery. I got a call from the store manager a couple weeks back to see if I was willing to give up my Dec delivery date and delay shipment for an additional discount (apparently someone else REALLY needed a new BRZ, and they were willing to pay a markup), so I agreed to have a new order for Apr '22 delivery for $2100 under MSRP (or $620 under dealer invoice). I also confirmed that they aren't adding any additional dealer accessories to the price. This isn't your ideal situation, but there are some dealerships out there willing to work with buyers. They may be few, but they're still out there.
