Default Is it bad to want to trade my subie in for an SRT-4

Is it a bad thing I mean my wrx has been a great car and all but the lure of the price of the car and its potential is very attractive geez I know that Teh SRT is Teh fastar in everything lol but I wouldn't be racing and is dodge build quality that bad? I had a 1st gen R/T Neon and the only problem I had outta it was warped rotors after 40kmiles soooo geez this is a sad day please someone give me some advice.

You don't like AWD?
If you're already questioning Dodge's build quality being 'that bad', I'd say you already answered your own question.

SRT-4s are faster stock, but they're dodge. No matter what you do to it. It's a front wheel drive piece of dodge crap. I hate when people are like "oo, gotta give respect to the srt-4" umm, no. No respect. It's junk, don't do it.

i'll say that the car is a ton of fun to drive, compared to a stock wrx. if you have snow in your area, the neon doesn't keep traction at all, even with snows. I'd say do it, for hard pulls on the highway.

You need your head examined. If the fact that it's a Dodge doesn't tell you something, maybe the recent NHTSA side impact test results will. Get hit in the side, and you will die in that thing. Period. Go soak your head. Seriously.

SRT-4 is a lot of speed for the money, and it's got a great engine with tons of potential. I don't care too much for the dodge crap argument either, since I haven't seen any real data on how they fare in terms of reliability. But the crash test is an important piece of info IMO.

In the end though, I think SRT-4 is a kind of a car that's really tempting when you're buddy drives one, but not quite as attractive any more if you actually own one. The utter lack of refinement is likely to catch up pretty soon. I know I'll get sick of it the moment I get used to the crazy acceleration.

lol I know the potential of the suby but I guess Im just gettin to the point to where I want tro drop alot of cash on the suby for mods but not enough money to bump to the STi plus the insurance would rape me on the STI so thats not even an option. I thought about the EVO RS but red and white color options kinda suck so I guess that where the SRT-4 came into play for the cheap fix me up factor. Sorry for the dumb post though I will now go DIAF or DIAMA either or

Pretty much agree with what everyone else has said
1. It's your choice
2. It's a Dodge and a glorified Neon at that
3. If your profile is correct, and you live in WVa. - good luck in the winter
(Our WRX with winter tires is better in the snow than the OBW with stock tires)
4. Check you insurance costs before you consider just the sticker price

The Neon is not a quality or durable car, but it is cheap to acquire. It is not cheap to own because that car will drop down to 33% of what you paid for it in just a few years.

Mods ban this guy. I'm just kidding, it's your choice. Since you already have a Subie I'm sure you'll make the right choice.

Dodge quality is questionable, IMO. I do like the SRT-4's though. I think they are very capable cars. There's a couple guys here in the DFW metro running 450+ hp to the wheels. Make my car look like it's standing still on the freeway. Now it's a completely different story with the twisties though. The WRX's with some suspension mods(springs, sways and end links) will own a stock SRT-4 in the twisties. I'm not sure how well the SRT-4's handle suspension mods(if you have to get coilovers or just springs to make it worth your while), but that's something you want to take into consideration.

My .02, if you can swing an STi payment and insurance, get it. Heck, my insurance runs less than $90/month, full coverage on my STi. Good luck

I think torque steer is enough to keep me away from a SRT-4.
