Default Headlight confusion

Hey guys,

Just recently picked up a 2014 WRX hatch. To my understanding the Ď12 and on (before the Ď15 model change) have the chrome surround headlights and the 08-11 have the black surround. Mine has the black surround headlights. Carfax VIN run shows it as a 2014. Would there be a reason that a 14 would have the older style black headlights? Iím not super up on the differences between the years besides major model changes so I appreciate the info!

Looks like you must have a 08-12 wrx if it is a hatchback. If it truly is mode year 14 it either was a swap or a wrx badge slapped on.

If itís a fake WRX there was certainly some effort involved. It is a widebody GR type, has all the associated badging in all the right places, VIN run shows it as a WRX, WRX seats, etc. Iím finding a lot of other 2014 WRX hatchbacks for sale as well. Seems unlikely that this isnít a 2014 WRX. But Iím also seeing that those other 2014ís have the chrome headlights and the chrome taillights. Mine has the mostly red taillights. Super strange.

On further inspection the tail lights have red overlays on them so I guess itís possible the headlights were randomly changed out as well? Just seems odd.

ah my mistake they did indeed make the 2014 in hatchback.

Looks like they used the old gen styling even though the new gen base mode was out for 2 years.
