Thumbs up Dog Box installed in my WRX - Must Read!

OK,

After a month i got my WRX back yesterday, with my new Chalak Dog Box.
Now i did not know what to expect i was kind of scared at first that it was not street driveable.
So i finally got it back, i am very pleased to say that i am 100% happy with the gearbox and it sounds AWESOME.
The third gear sounds like an F15 jet taking off, now shifting is very simple, i had no problems at all changing gears without crunching them.
To downshift you double clutch rev and match the rpm with the engine speed and you get a smooth shift, and to downshift you double clutch and it goes right into gear.
Sometimes reverse is a little tricky to get in, but after a few tries at most it compfortably goes in.
believe it or not i like driving it a lot better than the standard gearbox, it makes it more interesting to drive and during heavy shifts it just pulls HARD.
Installation cost me $850.00.
That's not too bad.

ANY QUESTIONS.

Gary

ooooooh boy , I could just see that coming

gary501 : now if you really want to impress everyone with the Chalak gears , take it to the drag strip and do some nice hard launches with it and have the time slip to show your 60 foot . If the gears hold up to torture like that for an extended period of time and you're making a considerable amount of torque (I don't know how much you have) , then lots including me will be really impressed with the gears and especially that they seem to be o.k for daily driving.

Congrats dude! Ps What's this mentality about when one gets a dogbox, everyone else wants to see a 6000 rpm clutch drop? Is it destruction at someone elses expence? 6000 rpm clutch dumps are the realm of race cars that are owned by people that expect things to go pop and have a budget backed by lots of money or sponsors. You guys made me dangle my participle.

Well last check, Gary was building a 10-11 sec drag car (WRX). So I think we'll see some 60" testing eventually.

Well i will be doing 6000 rpm dumps, as all parties have guaranteed me that it won't break.
Only thing i'll lose is my car going in for repairs if that does happen.
I won't race it till after the Christmas holidays need more tuniing done, hopefully will be the first WRX in the 11's.
Definately keep you guys informed on the times.
I had a feeling EatMyAWD would make a derogatory comment.
But hey people can say all they want i'll find out after a few hard runs.
Gary.

5252 : if you don't want to try it then its up to you , its your tranny . However that's not going to stop me or others on this board trying to find people who are "willing" to test their new gears just like the way I'll test them when I get mine in . ofcourse peoples experience will help me decide which set is best for me.
I do give you a lot of props for trying out dog gears of a particular brand while the rest of us are just sitting here waiting for feedback, but hey can you blame us !? I've been willing to test all sort of stuff but when it came to gears , I decided to wait.
gary501 is probably willing to take the risk and test his gears more than you , since he's stated several times that he thinks chalak gears are among the best and that he supplies them.
naturally people want a good testamonial from him using those gears under harsh conditions since these gears where made just for that , and I'm not necessarily talking about 6K launches but just drag racing generally where these gears are used alot in australia.
like I said , I don't blame you for not abusing your $3000 gears , but if you do , then please let us know how it goes and until then , my search continues for the gears and suppliers that prove worthy of my $$ .
