Default Got Recaros installed in my WRX, finally!

After 4 hours of grinding MY00 Impreza brackets, they are in!

Looks great ! What's with the 'grinding'. Care to post about the instillation. Also, are the rear seats still stock?

Nice SRDs. A buddy of mine has them and they're awesome. I've sat in Corbeau's and Sparco's, but I probably like these the best. They're very comfortable. The only thing I didn't like is that it had a dial for the incline/decline. Nice seats! From the pic, it looks like the rears are still stock.

Yes, the rear seats are stock, but I plan to get matching
Recaro fabric and recover the rear seats and the door panel
inserts.

There is a chassis bump/ridge near the mounting hole
closest to the seat belt bracket. What I had to do is grind
off a triangle shaped piece off the square seat bracket to
clear the bump. Even with the grinding, it did not go down
far enough (the hole is slotted) so it sat 1/2" higher in that
corner. What I did to fix that was used a 1/2" spacer on the
other side of the bracket and a longer bolt to make the
rear of the seat sit level to the floor. Also, the seat belt
bracket will hit the center console, so I just had to bend
it back a little to clear. I'll get some better looking spacers
made, as I'm just using a big nut... but overall I'm pleased
with the fit.

Thanks!

The brackets were $60 each, and took about 5 hours to
install. Lots and lots of grinding and test fitting.

The seats were $650 each and the sliders were $65 each.
$1550 total

The SRD's are OK, I used to have OMP REC's in my AE86, those
were much better seats... lighter weight, firmer padding,
more supportive, stronger reclining mechanism, ETC. I have
to re-adjust the SRD's every few days, the reclining mechanism
creeps.

Default EDM or JDM?

Anyone ever sit in the Euro STis? How do the Recaros compare to the STi seats?

The euro Sti/JDM Sti seats are a great fit, well bolstered, holds you in place, but when you drive aggressively, you can feel the limits of the seat. The Recaro SRDs on the other hand, feel deeper, are more bolstered and hold you much tighter, and its to the point where the thigh bolsters can press on your legs too hard and make them hurt a little. In fact anyone who is on the overweight side won't feel comfortable in the SRDs, the Sti's will allow more girth.

*wonders when the hell his 2nd SRD will come in so he can show his photos*

I fit the SRD in the GC8 with out any problem. Just wonder why you have to grinded the bracket? Where did you get the bracket and slider from?? The price that you paid for is very good. Please, let me know where you get them because I'm getting a WRX soon and I have no idea if the bracket on the GC8 will fit WRX or not.
Thanks

I used a GC8 bracket, it hits a bump on the floor. Easy
to grind but take a long time due to the thickness
of the metal.

These are Wedge brackets, that EVERYONE and their
mother uses... I ordered them from www.seatsource.com
Took about 2 weeks to get. The sliders are Recaro brand.

If anyone is wondering, no one makes recaro brackets
for a GD8, yet.

So you are saying that mounting bracket from GC8 will fit on the WRX with some modifications, right? If so, that would a good news becuse I won't have to spend any money again
Thanks man.

The stock bolts weren't long enough to reach into the inboard mounting holes. It turns out for ease of harness mounting Subaru made these holes the same size as the seat belt mounting locations. Therefore just grab a couple bolts from a junk yard that are from seatbelts that are a little longer than stock and they should work.

Also for anyone wondering how to mount harnesses in their car. I have Takata harnesses and they come with eyebolts. The one I bolt goes into the seatbelt mounting hole on the outboard side. Also conveniently enough there is no sound deadening to cut through right on top of the bolt, so just make a nice slice in the carpeting and it pokes out really clean. The inboard eyebolt uses the seat mounting location. Then the shoulder straps are mounted to the rear seatbelt mounting holes under the rear seat.

To mount the submarine 6 point attachments that I got for them I pulled 2 door strikers off a car in a junkyard and hacked off one side. Then I mounted these on the front seat mounting holes. Therefore I've thus got away with mounting 6 point belts without drilling into the car. The door strikers are really strong as they have to hold the door shut in a side impact as long as you stress them the way they were designed just having the submarine belts attached to them should be okay. I wouldn't mount the lap belts or shoulder belts to them by any means. If someone is interested I can post some pics of what I'm talking about...
yes yes, please post pics
