You may want to get the scoop plate, hood scoop and rubber shroud. I'd say you'll know as soon as it's running about the leak. From the looks of it I think you're fine.

You should make sure your splitter will work for the STi FMIC. I'm not sure about the shroud; you'll probably ending up cutting it since the dimensions are different.

Benjamin,

I have a brand new Zero Sports GDB splitter I need to get rid of. Brand new. I just got a FMIC and do not need it anymore.

E-mail me if interested.

It doesn't look like a leak since it is not perforated but you may want to pressure test it. But a holed intercooler does not always show up. I had mapped a car and it went on the rollers - there was a hole in the intercooler under the protective guard that had been fitted (after the event)? The car only just made standard power and torque. After testing with my (non-holed but 50% thicker TMIC) we gained about 60 BHP and 60 lbft. There were no noises to hear on the road and the car wen OK not spectacularly.

However, the intake temperatures were very high since the turbo was working at a higher PR to make up for lost pressure.

alex pm me with your price?

so i'm assuming from what xstar is saying i can't use my stock hoses to work this thing. as stated in original post, it's just the bare intercooler and no other parts

i've asked this before but no one answered.... does the use of the zerosports splitter use the rubber shroud? i've been told that the opening on the zerosports splitter is sti-sized, but will all the air leak out?

my only other alternate solution would be the stock sti splitter vividracing sells for $99...

nm about what I said. I just checked my IC and I cannot be certain that the STi IC Y-hose is needed.

You may want to check on that and my apologies.

Call Wayne at AVsports....he has the typeRA splitter ~$60 and the rubber skirt ~$35 something like that. You have to use the STi cast "Y" pipe. You can use one of your old inlet cast pieces, the STi "Y" pipe and the STi "L" shaped silicone hose.

You're buying the splitter, and you want the rubber liner? Why would you want to? The whole crappy rubber piece is part of what the splitter replaces ...

If you purchase the splitter, you absolutely need the rubber stripping. It is essential to form a good seal between scoop and IC. Air is going to move via the easiest route possible, without the stripping, you risk the possibility of air bypassing the intercooler all together.

Guess my answer wasn't clear enought : NO! And you CAN'T! That piece is replaced by stainless steel.

how is the zerosports splitter supposed to work better if there is no more seal between it and the TMIC?

I was going to start a new thread, but this seems along the lines of what I want to ask...

does anyone know if the STI TMIC from the old style GC8's would fit on the new WRX?

i had asked this one before. i could not get 100% confirmation but i was told that the outlets on the bottom were not in the same position as the newage one.... fabrication would be required to make it fit.
