Default engine is blown what is the best swap i can do into my 2002 wrx

what swap will give me the most hp? and be easily upgraded? 'i have had my 2202 wrx for less then a week and yes it already blew its engine. Talk about a bad fricken day. Time for swap hopfully what is the best one i can do?

+1 for the 2.5 crawford sb. For less than 2k. It is pretty unbeatable. I am going with one hopefully this spring.

the compression was blown when i got it and stupid me didnt do a compresion test till after i got it. IT is just part of my sucky life. never trust anyone

in order of cost
ej20H (ej20TT) block off ebay (will require retune)
used usdm block
jdm wrx block (will require retune)
sti short block (will require retune)
crawford/axis/gruppe-s/cosworth block (not cheep)

^^^^ what he said. All of these blocks are direct replacements for your block. All you need is the shortblock replacement, a gasket set and patience.

As for power... Crawford by far has the most potential, followed by the stock STi shortblock. If you can get your hands on a used EJ207, that would be the best bang-for-buck. Search for it in the "wanted" ads...

ej22t block with the thinnest head gaskets cometic will make you. or ej20h is a great option too

Yeah for ease and power, you can't beat swapping in a V7 in my mind. I figure if you're going to pull the longblock to replace a shortblock might as well replace the whole damn thing. Just my two cents for what it's worth...

i would think a gruppe-s stage 2 shortblock or crawford shortblock would be better then the others no?

if you want somethin real cheap... then look for a a 22t shortblock, built or you could build it, atleast pistons, matched up with wrx heads and turbo would be killer.
