Question Do you have a electric exhaust controller? - Question for you.

I'm referring to the electrically controlled butterfly valve in the exhaust pipe that is used to silence a noisy exhaust and then it can be opened for more noise and power by a remote switch.

Question is-
If you have one of these when the valve is shut (in quiet mode), does it affect the spool up of the turbo?
There are two possibilites here. One is the increased backpressure will allow the engine to create more torque off boost and spool faster, the other is increased backpressure will stop the turbo spooling faster.
Feedback please.........

When its closed you will spool slower than with it open. With it shut your exhaust performs as normal. You answered your own question really.
