Thumbs up

I believe the Ganzflow will work for your car and Larry has them with adapters for the MAF as well IIRC.

http://www.imprezars.com/products.htm

I've got one on my '01 RS and another on my '02 OBS. Good results and a great sound.

I have a 2000 RS and all I did was to take the sheild off the hood scoop, and take all the airbox off except the one that goes on the throttle body. I took half of that one off and put a K&N filter in it and put some yellow painted chicken wire around it with black electrical tape and it has the deep throaty intake sound and I have tested it at the drag strip and its is faster than stock. I dont have anything else motor wise on my car.

Total cost 45$, and it has poured the rain the first weekend that I had it done and no water got in the motor or anything, I have had it on for about 2yrs and no problem or check engine lights.

man it amazes me how many posts there are from my00-01 folks telling those with a MAF to use the standard intakes that do not work w/ the MAF...

we cannot use a standard ganzflow or cobb, we can't just modify the airbox, and we most certainly can't put a cone filter on the throttle body...

okay, off my soapbox...

Weapon R also makes ( or made, not sure). It's listed on their site for $190, but you might be able to find one in the classifieds for like 50-100. If you get the Weapon-R, replace the filter with a K&N or something similar (any 3" I.D. filter will fit). The standard filter is crappy foam that lets every thing through.

Not really a CAI is it? I did something similar with my MY99 and none of the 4 intakes I tried really made a difference other than the Cobb the was slightly modified to fit a MY99 (idea by DanzBorin BTW), it would work on a MY98 as well. In fact IMHO it made a bigger impact in performance than the full exhaust.

i have an injen intake on my99 and i absolutely love it very straightforward install as well its not that hard. Plus its alot less work than modifying a cobb as well. and good luck trying to get that ganz my99 CAI... considering its almost impossible to get the filter

Yeah, I know the early RS' can be finicky, that's why I waited until the end to get my RS.

My friend had this setup on his '99 and it seemed to work rather well.. I just thought this would be a lower budget alternative, just in case.

Hey Poppa Smurf can you give me more detail about your modified cobb intake, if the gains were good I might look into that! I didn't think those other intakes would do much for my 98 RS, maybe I robb someone and do a WRX swap for some real power
