Default 2012 2.0i Impreza factory Sat install

I decided to put sirius in my 2012 Impreza 2.0i Sport Premium with factory type B radio. I ended up buying a similar radio from a Forester and a used Sirius Tuner. I had to buy an antenna and I bought an interior windshield type. anyway, install wasn't too bad, but I did have do figure out my own way to mount the tuner and run the antenna wire because my car was not prewired (I had hoped, but it was not).

Step one: Remove glovebox

Step two:
Disconnect manual controls. the right side is accessable through the opening where the glovebox was. the driver side is a bit harder. The manual says to remove the lower instrument panel, but I opted to just crawl under the dash instead to remove it.

Step three:
start to pry bezel, the manual suggested to start on the right side, and I did find that to be easiest. if you get the right spots it pops off really easy. I recommend using 2 plastic pry bars because once you get it started the 2nd can be used to actually pry. It doesn't take very much force at all if you get the right locations.

Step four:
there is a connecter on the back of the four way flasher button that has to be disconnected.

Step five:
You can fully disconnect the heater controls if you want. I ended up disconnecting them because just having the bezel flopped down was scratching my trim. reconnecting the 2 wire connectors on reassembly sucks.

Step six:
Install antenna. Use whatever you want, but I don't like antennas on the outside of my car so I used a windshield mount antenna and mounted it above my rear view mirror.

Step seven:
Install SAT tuner. This was the biggest hassle of the entire process. I couldn't really find a good way to do it, because the brackets that come with the kit don't work on the new 2.0i's. You can get them to mount up, but they interfere with the air vents. I tried a few different things, but ultimately just ended up using some plumbers strap and attached it directly to my new Radio, but this can only be done after the radio is installed.

Step eight:
put it all back together and enjoy
