![]() This may be a stupid question so bear with me! (I tried searching, too!)
I have an '07 Sube that I am told the head unit is Sirius-ready. My question is where do I find the ESN/ID number so I can activate the service? I thought it might be on a pamphlet you get when you buy a new car but I couldn't find anything. I also bought my car back in September so that pamphlet could be anywhere. I'm assuming it may be on a sticker on the back of the head unit but I really don't want to take it out if it is. Your help is greatly appreciated! Chels

![]() I think "Sirius-Ready" means you can buy a sirius tuner and add it in. I could be wrong though, I'm sure you will get an answer shortly.

![]() Sirius-ready means that the hu has the Sirius controls but in order to use it you have to buy a hidden unit that plugs into the back of the hu. That unit will have the ESN/ID number on it.

If that's the case, and I want XM instead, couldn't I just get an XM tuner? Because I would rather have XM. I keep hearing that only Sirius works on my head unit though. |

![]() Only sirius is plug and play. You can still buy the XM unit the way anyone would add it on to their car. It just won't be fully integrated. With Sirius you buy a hidden box that you can control with the headunit. XM you would have to control with a seperate unit. Do your research though because many prefer Sirius to XM, myself included.

![]() Yes, the big draw for XM is MLB Baseball. ( And maybe NASCAR ) ?
Sirius is better for Music IMO and supposedly if you live around a bigger city, XM uses signal repeaters which change the signal from it's original digital version and Sirius does not. I'm not sure about that whole thing though. |

![]() I'm guessing the links you found are for sirius tuners for aftermarket headunits. You will need a tuner specifically for the Subaru headunit I believe. That is why it is so expensive and only available from the dealer or Subaru specific parts sellers.

![]() Does your car have a box on the upper passenger side of the windshield? If so you have the sirius package... Push the sat button and then tune the dial to 000 and the id will pop on the screen.

![]() Whoever said XM has more sports...MLB is it come Jan 1st. All other sports are on Sirius now including NASCAR (personally I wish that would just die off).
As for your unit, yeah you need the specific tuner that the stock radio accepts...aftermarket tuners for aftermarket head units are not compatible. As for trying to get XM instead....if you wait long enough somebody will make a "black box" to switch. There are a few companies working bigtime to get a blackbox out for GM vehicles to put Sirius in, but haven't heard anything about XM. At the price that tuner will run you, you'd be better off getting an aftermarket HU with a tuner...probably cost you $100 -$200 less in the end. |

![]() "sirius ready" means that there is a connection present if you choose to purchase the optional equipment. i am not sure about subaru, but the past expirience i have had with xm or sirius ready has not been good. it meant that you had to purchase the ridiculously overpriced "factory tuner modules" that are in the area of two to three times the price. the best bet is going aftermarket everything, but if you dont wanna change ur head unit, you can still get the necessary hardware to run it on ur factory head unit.

![]() You have a Clarion PF2868A-A. I'm also looking for a cheaper alternative and found this one for Clarion stereos:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=330050672759 Don't know if this will work though. Emailed the seller for more info. |

![]() Called Sirius support today as well. Not much help, but I'm really curious if the SIRCL2 will work for our stock head units.
Does anyone have good detailed pictures of the Subaru-purchased tuner? Connections and all? Maybe we can compare them to the SIRCL2. You can get a refurb'ed one for $50 on ebay. Small price to pay to see if it'll work. |

![]() I found someone who graciously put up pix of his 2007 stock head unit for sale. Original and close-up of the connector:
![]() ![]() ![]() Now look at the SIR-CL3 Sirius antenna and its hook-up: ![]() And the manual shows it better: http://www.teamclarion.com/sharedweb...LE/SIR-CL3.pdf ![]() Looks to be the right type of connection between our stock head unit and this tuner. I found it on sale at ebay for under $100: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-SIR-CL3-Siri...QQcmdZViewItem Last edited by jsmithjr732; 12-11-2006 at 01:29 AM. |
