I'm breathing life back into this thread. I'm on the hunt for the Aux Cable that goes between the 07 STI Radio and the ash tray Aux piece (86257sa010).

2 questions:
1)I did read the threads and it appears SVXdc did or still does make a harness. Does anyone know this answer? I have sent a PM to him just now too.

2) Will the 2008 AUX Input kit work on the 07 Headunit? Maybe we can use the harness between the headunit and the Aux port, assuming it is plug and play. Has anyone tried this?

Check my post on the 09 AUX harness to see if that will mate up with the 07. I believe it was said that they were different (at least one side of the harness) but I don't recall. Also, please check your PMs.

I haven't made an aux harness. I'm looking into it, but nothing definite yet.

I didn't receive a PM, BTW.

I think the radio side 8-pin connector is compatible. It appears that Subaru switched to a slight variation on the shell, but I'm pretty sure that the pin size and spacing, as well as the shell dimensions, are still the same.

The harness at the aux pod end is definitely different between 2007 and 2009. I'm betting that the 2008 armrest aux pod is different from 2007. Not sure if 2008 is the same as 2009. UPDATE: 2008 is same as 2009.

Here's some info on the 2008 aux kit and harness (the drawing is misleading -- the harness is about 4 feet long to reach the armrest).

Is this the cable you're looking for?

Although Subaru may not be offering for sale as a replacement part, it has to have a part number.

ADDED: dajohnson53 found that the harness is sold as a replacement part from Clarion (the HU manufacturer). Details in his post here (#323 in that thread). Also see my reply after that.

I talked to my local dealer, who talked to SOA, who talked to SOJ, who said that they only sell that cable with the head unit. So, if you want a factory wiring job, you have to buy the radio from the factory (multiple hundreds of dollars).

I've tried to source the I85 connector but I can't seem to find any info on it, other than it might possibly come with the splitter harness for the factory sub setup. We wouldn't have the extra sockets to stick in the backshell even with this.

I have learned two things:

1. THESE sockets will fit the pins on the radio side.

2. A 0.156" molex socket will fit the pins on the aux jack side (a bit snug, the pins must be 4mm).

Add these two things together and I believe I can make a solution that will work. I am going to de-pin the aux jack connector and use the pinouts mentioned HERE to make a jumper cable for the following pins:

1 - Aux Input - Left
2 - Aux Input - Right
4 - Chassis Ground*
5 - Aux Input - Audio Ground
6 - Aux input enable

Hopefully tomorrow I will have an answer on if this works, now that I was able to find the proper crimp tool for this type of socket.

I just purchased a 2007 sti and I have this same exact setup. The only issue I have is that my auxilary port isn't working. I tried different mp3 players with different auxilary wire's plugged into the auxilary input going into the ashtray port. I checked to make sure the cables were plugged into the headunit and they are. Any suggestion's upon what my problem would be? Do you think I need to replace the auxilary wire going from the ashtray to the headunit? Or do you think it could be a fuse?

It's definitely not a fuse (unless your radio is not powering on).

Does the HU let you change into Aux mode and you simply can't hear the sound? If you can't switch into Aux mode, then the enable line has a problem (either the wire going to pin 6, the switch terminal inside the 3.5 mm jack, or the chassis ground lead on pin 4).

Note that on later years, the 8-pin socket doesn't provide chassis ground -- a separate ground wire joins into the harness going to the aux jack.

Several people have mentioned their 3.5 mm jack has gone bad (possibly due to torquing the audio cable's plug too much).

If your car is still under warranty, let a dealer fix it.

Otherwise, the first thing I'd do is take out the ashtray pod and test at the connector coming out the back of it. See if physically plugging in your audio cable causes the pin 4 and pin 6 wires to be bridged. And check for continuity between the left, right, and audio ground on the 3.5 mm plug at the other end and the corresponding wires on the back of the aux pod. If those are good, move on to the next harness going into the radio.

Tim-M is still selling these cables that hook up to the 07 HU. I just purchased a custom one off him and the cable connector from jazzy for iPods.

He sells two kinds but will do custom ones as well.
1) The kind that goes to the stock aux in box for the 07 HU
2) One that goes from the HU and has a male 3.5mm jack on the other end.

Hope this info helps others who are looking for the cables/ alternatives

I have a 07 STI with it's stock head unit. My auxilary port isn't working! I tried using multiple auxilary cables to plug into the auxliary ports with different ipods to connect to it but I'm still unable to select aux on my headunit(It only goes straight to cd). So I took apart my headunit to make sure the wires were plugged in correctly and they were.(I even unplugged and plugged them back in). Please does anyone have advice for me? Or is there anything in addition I should do to get this to work? Or is there anything I need to buy or replace to get my auxliary to work?

MP3 folder navigation solved, the dial on the right is used (it's labeled as such!). In my defense the unit I have is worn off around that dial
