![]() I ordered a sub/amp from exeter and it's
on it's way. I have been wondering if installing it with an aftermarket system is at all difficult. I have been reading older posts, and have a .pdf file of the instructions. Do you think an install shop will be able to install this w/o any major hassle? My local sube dealer will only do the totally factory install. I have a Nakamichi 45w x4 hu and it's my understanding that the sub will run off the rear speakers.... Will a reputable shop be able to do this? I have spoken to 2 shops and they claim they can do the install, fwiw

![]() Shouldn't be a problem. IIRC, the factory sub just has a harness that hooks into the factory harness for power and signal.

![]() Unless you cut the factory connector off to hook up a 3rd party head unit. This would be a dumb thing to do as a connector with pig tails is $10-$15 from Circuit City or Best Buy.
I have the factory sub on a Kenwood Z828. No problem. |

![]() On the GC8 there is a wire harness that plugged in between the radio plug and the radio. It pulls its signal as well as power/turn-on/ground (not totally positive on these 3) from the radio harness then runs under the drivers seat. I believe you will need this harness to run the amp/sub. If you have the instruction sheet as well as the wire harness for it you should be able to easily install it yourself. It shouldn't take more than an hour or so.
