![]() Hey guys,
I just installed a pioneer avic x920bt in my '11 WRX and i also got the PAC module so I can keep the steering wheel controls. Head unit works awesome no problems with the install everything went peachy. The problem i'm having is with the PAC not learning. My questions is, if anyone knows at all if the wiring on the stock head unit changed between 2010 and 2011, I know they added blue tooth on 2011 models but i'm not sure if that changes the wiring. Basically I used the 2010 PAC install guide (no 2011 install guide) which told me to splice into 3 wires in the harness. I did, and the PAC SWI-PS module lights up it tells me it works but it won't learn the steering ctrls. I'm thinking its because one of the wires might have changed location from 2010 but i can't confirm. The following link shows the PAC install and there it says to "Connect Pin 15 (YELLOW Wire) to the Interface's WHITE wire. " the yellow wire being on the stock car harness. I'm thinking that the PAC will not learn the steering wheel controls is because this yellow wire might have changed functions in 2011 but i'm not sure. its still a yellow wire in that location for 2011. http://www.pac-audio.com/swixprogram...ehicles&ID=238 I'm sure this problem will come up more in the future when more people will upgrade the 2011 system and want to keep the steering wheel controls. So in the end....is my PAC module screwed up or did that wire change location/function? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ![]()

![]() If the yellow wire is still going to pin 15 I would think the wire function would bethe same as before. You may have a faulty connection somewhere so have you checked for that?

![]() I did not yet, i was going to grab a multimeter and check. But before the PAC module actually learns I have to upgrade the version on it, which I did just fine. So that's kind of telling me that it's hooked up correctly.

![]() I agree with your thinking. Hopefully you will find a bad connection somewhere.

![]() yup....or have it mysteriously solve itself out
![]() My only hope now is to maybe even wait until i can get my hands on a 2011 wiring diagram for the stock head unit and hope that i just spliced into the wrong one due to 2011 changes. but you know how it is.....things aren't usually that simple |

![]() I tend to think that no changes were made in the factory wiring.

SVXdc has noted some information on the third wire. Post 5. Most of the thread deals with the Axxess AWSC unit, but I am sure that it is applicable to the PAC. I do remember reading a thread (can't find it) where someone mentioned that the resistance settings changed for 2011 and that they had to set it similar to a Toyota or something.... So you might need to take that into account. *EDIT* Look at the bottom of that very thread I linked to. Post 25. Doesn't solve everything.... but it is a start |

![]() I noted that also in post 25 of the link provided, about using programming code 9 instead of code 3.

![]() yeah i saw the programming 9....i will try that one instead of 3. This weekend I will try to find the time to rip apart the dash again and get to may PAC so i can try different programming sequences. i will post any advances i make.
