• Compatible with OEM satellite radio tuner accessories
• Virtually identical to Forester CP625U1 (next HU, below)

• Used in 2012-2014 Impreza & Crosstrek
• 20-pin radio harness no longer has CAN bus
• Pin 11 is for "bright" mode ('NIDC')
• Pin 19 is for Vehicle Speed Signal (VSS) -- used for speed-sensitive volume, and to lock out some functions while you're moving (such as being able to adjust bass, treble, etc.).
• Has separate buttons for FM and AM, no SAT button
• Not compatible with OEM satellite radio tuner accessory (HU may or may not have the black 20-pin SIE expansion bus socket)
• Pictures:
  • Front
  • Rear (version with SIE bus socket, looks virtually identical to CZ624U1 & CP625U1 above)

All 3 head units:

• Use same 20-pin connector and pin-out for power, speakers, illumination, steering wheel controls (SWCs), power antenna control
• Have the same additional rear sockets/connections:
  • 16-pin socket for Bluetooth mic and aux input
  • Brown 4-pin Hirose socket for USB input
  • Pigtail lead for "tel mute" input (for external Bluetooth cell phone kit)
  • Motorola socket for AM/FM antenna
  • Ground lug for redundant ground harness

All three are "Type B" in the cars' owners manuals (Type A is the base HU model without BT, and Type C has the 4.3" screen, discussed here).

"NIDC" allows you to have your headlights on, but restore your instruments and HU to daytime brightness (the way they would be if your headlights were off). See your car's owners manual where it talks about the dash light dimmer wheel ("Illumination Brightness Control").

The same Clarion radio service manual covers both the WRX and Forester models CZ624U1 and CP625U1. I don't see any significant differences there.

What is the trick to get remove the glove box in a 2012 with out removing all of the screws? After I disconnect the lever on the right side I can't seem to pop it out.

You have to squeeze/flex the sides of the glove box in enough to allow the plastic stops molded into the side of the box to clear the opening. You have to squeeze pretty hard to accomplish this. Once it clears, the box drops much further open than normal, at which point you can just pull it out.

Make sure you empty the glove box, or you'll dump its contents on your feet during this process.

This is a good process to learn, as it's required to replace your cabin air filter too.

This guide is great for getting the HVAC bezel off. Didn't even need any tools, just used my fingers / nails and didn't have to use as much force as others were saying except for the very bottom.

Flyboy, how did you go about running the antenna to the roof? I'm attempting to do this install today and I can't seem to figure this step out. There hardly seems like there's even any room to run the wiring behind that bar and the hvac ductwork.

I followed the wires out towards the drivers side, then ran it up the door seal until the top of the a pillar, then just inside the headliner to where my antenna is stuck to the inside of my windshield just above the mirror
