So can I ask a dumb question: what is the advantage of making the block out of billet? It's impressive as hell but wondering what faults of the oem design you guys are addressing that aren't covered by the closed decks or sleeves?
Again, not criticizing, just trying to learn.

No problems - ask the questions. Its fine.
There are several faults in the OEM design when it comes to high power applications. Its not just the deck that moves around causing head sealing issues, but due to the softness of the factory block material the engine cases can also 'walk' and cause excessive bearing wear. There is also distortion of the cylinder at high boost which leads to excessive blow-by and resulting power loss.

We have a chance to redesign several aspects of the cooling, oiling, and rigidity of the Subaru effort, and we have addressed them one by one to have this piece as the result.
