Default Looking to get 09 wrx, one problem, HATE the clutch

I'm looking for a good snow car with lots of cargo room and space for 5 to compliment my other car and figured a WRX wagon would be perfect.

Took at test drive this weekend and liked the car except for the clutch. The one I drove had good clutch feel until it was about half way down, then it just dropped to the floor with no resistance. That really annoyed me and I know it'll annoy me so much that I won't drive the WRX unless I'm going snowboarding or to ikea. Therefore it makes no sense for me to spend 25,000 on something that i'll only use 20 times a year.

Was the one I drove just a bad apple? Will it go away after the clutch is broken in? Is there an aftermarket clutch or a mod that I can do that will get rid of the lack of feedback halfway down? I've been using an elise as a DD for the past 4 years so I'm use to a heavy linear clutch.

I actually have the 09 wrx, and yes the clutch does suck
You can always upgrade to an aftermarket clutch such as a stage2 or something for a stiffer feel
but once driving it for a few days youll get used to it.
In my opinion though, if you want to a stiffer clutch and a nice car to use in the snow.. just go for the sti

The WRX clutch is very tall. The catch point is very high. As soon as you get to that point you want it to drop quickly. Go drive a VW/Audi and tell me the WRX clutch is light/bad.

maybe theres a problem with that car. my 08 has great feel with the clutch. a reflash map also helps with the gas pedal sesitivity. you get used to it.

Everyone has a favorite clutch...Once you get used to one, every other one SUCKS.

When I first got my '09 WRX Wagon the "vagueness" at the bottom half of the clutch travel really bothered me. Bothered me enough that I stalled a manual for the first time in like 10 years. Twice. I got so used to the clutch on my other car that the lightness and the vague engagement threw me off.

Now 3 months later, when I get into my other manual car, it feels like the clutch is made of rock and takes ton of effort and hard to modulate, and the WRX clutch feels like butter.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is, every car's clutch is a little different and it's something you gotta get used to.
