Unhappy It's two weeks late and I'm starting to get worried...

So, about 2 or 3 weeks ago, I planted some grass in an area where we tore up an old flower bed. Then, it got cold, and we saw lows below freezing quite a few nights. Now, it's warming up again, but I'm afraid I'll have to replant. I can't see a single sprout. Any idears?

freezing temps wont usually kill grass seed, but it WILL slow down the process.

BB - in all seriousness - have you been watering the seeds? - After dormancy - seeds need a lot of water (and several days of 60 degrees plus weather) in order to germinate. Give it a litte more time and some more water.

I've been watering it every day by hand, making sure the ground gets pretty well soaked, but not so much that it washes the seed away. Think it needs more? It hasn't been raining much lately.

Last winter I was driving from MD-VT with my bf for skiing vacation, and we were amusing ourselves with playing 20 questions. It was his turn to guess, and at the end he was like "Okay, so it's a smallish object primarily used for decoration that is made of concrete and covered in paint that sits in people's lawns?" Me: "uh huh!" sure that he's got it now. But he was just like "Whiskey tango? " - turns out he'd never heard of garden gnomes!! I was shocked. How could someone just .. not know about them??

Nah - it should be fine then -- just give it some time -- and water in the morning if you can.
