Default My Review of Gregoris Motors Inc (Valley Stream NY)

LONG POST....sorry

I have had my 02 RS for a couple weeks now, I had put off writing the review/experience with this dealership ...so here we go~~~

I totalled my 01 Eclipse back in Feburary so I started looking for a new car. I decided on the 2.5RS w/automatic transmission. I did all the online research and got the number I wanted.

I called all the Subaru dealers within 10-15 miles radius and only one (Gregoris) had an auto RS in stock (I want to test drive before I buy). So I went there with my wife. We walked in and just looked around and did not find a RS. A salesman approached us and I told him I was looking for an RS auto and wanted to test drive it.

He led us to the lot and showed us a white one. We checked out the car while the salesman went inside to get keys and all the preparations done for test drive. He drove the car out of the lot (FAST!) and I took over. I drive around for like 5-10 minutes and I liked it.

We got back to the dealership and it seemed like he was waiting for me to make an offer so I told him I will give him $500 over invoice and he agreed. We sat down and started working out numbers. Midway thru, I found that the numbers were higher than what I had. I stopped him and asked what his invoice is. He showed me the RS auto invoice for roughly 18600 and I was like "uh uh...I know my invoice is 18,169". He checked, and said "yeah, we added destination charger into the invoice"

***If I did not stop him right there, was he gonna tag on that $485 destination later again? I guess I will never know ***

He insisted getting the spoiler cuz it looks good on the RS. I wasnt gonna but since my wife liked the spoiler, so I compromised (She wanted a Toyota Matrix). We worked out the numbers:
4EAT (brp)
Invoice: $18,169
Offer: $500
Destination: $485
Options (fog lights, spoilers, keyless entry with securty system/alarm): $800
Tax: $1,696
registration/tile: $20
Inspection: $10
OTD = $21,689

I wanted to transfere the insurance from our 92 miata and put the plates on the new car, so he could not charge me $150 for the plates

We worked out everything and delivery dates is "march timeframe" and he showed us a list of the cars being shipped to them. On the list, there is our BRP with spoiler. (Now I understand why he wanted us to get the spoiler and BRP color...which I did not mind that since it was what we wanted anyway). He said that sometimes after middle march. We signed the Bill of sale and he gave us the yellow copy.

BUT...only my wife's signature is on the BOS not his. So I said "hold on a sec...you did not sign" He was like "oh it is alright, it is good" Well...I "made sure" he signed on our yellow copy as well.

***By now you guys can see how paranoid I am but I think I was right to make him sign that cuz I know the agreement aint binding unless both sides sign it***

We got everything done and we left...Around middle of March, I called my salesman and asked if the car arrived at the port yet. "Not yet, maybe a few more days" I called back again in a couple days, "yeah, the car is at the port and it "should" be here at the end of the week"

I think it was either a monday/tuesday. I called back everyday and no new progress. Friday afternoon I called again and the salesman told me "For some reasons, the car is being kept at the port" He told me to call SOA and asked about it (shouldnt that be his job???)

Anyway, I called SOA and it took them like 3 days to get back to me why the car is delayed. Actually even SOA did not find out why, just told me that as of 3/23 the car has left the port.

During this period, I called my salesman many times wanting to know what is going on, they had no answers. (I left many messages but my salesman never called me back. His explaination was no news, so I did not call you...)

Eventually I got a hold of the guy who owns the place...he told me that he did not know either why the car is delayed....anyway, when SOA called me and gave me the VIN for the car (for insurance purposes), I had to call my salesman and I was the one who gave him the VIN...

I picked up the car on 3/29 (Good Friday ^_^) and everything worked out cool...the boss came out and greeted me and everyone was very poite and I drove home happy with my new RS.

Few observations:
1) the hidden destination charge...like I said before, I guess I will
never find out if he was gonna tag it in later
2) my salesman did not sign the BOS
3) They could not explain why the car was delayed (a few i-cluber
had pointed out to me that it may due to parts being
unavaible since I was having the fogs and keyless put on at
the port)
4) The car was delivered within the March timeframe but they
could not keep their 3/19 date when they said the car should
be here by the end of the week

Overall, I would give them thumbs "slightly up". My impression is that they are very busy and they really did not know why the car is delayed. The owner and the salesman were nice guys (of course they were nice to me! I am paying customer)

It is a Nissan/Suzuki/Subaru dealer and they recently just added Subaru to their sale lineups. It is not a big dealership but with a lot of cars in stock (I saw 3 auto WRX).

Anyway...I am finished...(slow day at work)
