Does "lightweight rear window glass" mean "thin and will break easily"?
According to the Subaru press release, the STi has "Other weight reduction measures include the use of lightweight rear window glass, aluminum control arms and forged aluminum wheels." I've never seen anything like that on a car, so I have no idea if it's going to be fragile and expensive to replace.

Yeah, gimme a break! Since when does rear glass break ?!?!
Now if the windshield was a lot thinner, then we can worry. Who cares if it's thinner. The thinner the better. |

Thinner glass will mean less soundproofing (more road & wind noise) and also when it's cold outside your windows won't be as much insulation as usual. In summer I don't know if it will be cooler (less magnification of heat) or warmer (less blockage of heat)?
The major difference will probably be road noise & replacement cost. -s- |
