The rear window rattle is also caused by the seals around the window expanding/contracting with heat and cold. It happens primarily in the cold when the seals contract and the window is able to move a bit more with chassis flex...unfortunately, there's not a ton that can be done for this other than trying to keep the inside of the vehicle very warm or turning up your stereo more. Another cause can be suspension upgrades. After a suspension upgrade the chassis is now under more stress as the stiffer upgraded shocks and springs don't react as much as the OEM ones, sending more street impact to the chassis. The chassis flexes, putting more stress on the seals that hold the window in...eventually causing it to rattle. Once again, it's a pain, but can be reduced somewhat by reducing body/chassis flex/roll with larger and stiffer sway bars and, to some degree, strut tower bars.

SOLVED:
1) Cruise Control arm rattled. I just took it apart and reassembled it and made sure to screw everything snugly and it was fixed! (Didn't have to adjust the spring or anything) 2) Very faint metal-on-metal high-pitched noise that took me a while to identify. Turns out it was the zipper on the passenger seat on the top of the pass-through (roughly behind where your neck is). Easily fixed with a piece of tape. UNSOLVED: The plastic surround around my steering column rattles/squeaks when going over bumps in the road. It started after I took it apart to get at the ignition harness for my guages. I thought I screwed everything in tightly afterwards, but I'll check again. -George |

I solved the steering column plastic rattles by simply removing the bottom portion (only 1 screw and a bunch of tabs hold it together). I then applied some double-sides foam weather stripping to it and cut any excess off and reassembled.
I also fixed the cruise control rattle a little differently by simply putting a small bit of electrical tape between the PCB and the plastic. The rattle it due to the PCB loose inside the plastic stalk. |

how about a ticking rattle from the sunroof/map light switch area? put pressure anywhere in that area and the sound goes away. i've taken apart that assembly several times, and even stuffed a (clean!) wool sock up there to try to stop the noise, but to no avail. any ideas?

Glove Box Rattle Fix
I had the glove box rattle and what I did was wrap some black electrical tape around the U-shaped bracket the door latch attaches to. That fixed the rattle

I like the rattles and squeaks. It's like a plastic symphony as I drive down the road.

I also had the VIN Plate rattle/vent rattle. The silicon on white clips fixed about 95% of the rattles. I reinforced it more by sticking padding between the trim piece and dash and now the rattle is 100% gone.
I also had the B-pillar/seatbelt rattle. Did a search on nabsico and winded up taking off the trim pieces associated with the B-pillar and tightened up things. What ultimately fixed it was my anger and frustration actually. I had all of the pieces off and just took my hand and slapped everything back there, grabbed a few pieces and yanked them. After that, the rattle was gone. There are some good old threads about fixing the B-pillar rattle. |

My car has a rattle coming from the plastic cover that's below the column (by your knees).. if I put some pressure on the right upper edge it stops. I have yet to try and fix it since I'm lazy - plus I usually forget about it by the time I get home. Is this a common rattle? |

I have recently notice a rattle from the plastic piece that surround the dash (the piece that some people replace to put 2 gauges on each end).. I can stop it by pressing it, but i have not tried anything else to fix it...
anyone else has that? |
