The outrage, "I'm OFFENDED", SJW, oh my. See DC's "Sticks and Stones" special. Twatter things being made national news. Idiocracy is here.

The reality, like I mentioned the WRX 4/5 door options, is real. If customers don't demand it, then they'll get bent. Manus will constantly want to push fewer models, less bespoke, less "individual" models = more profit.

And your fridge comparo is funny because most people here on our continent view the vehicle as an appliance. That's all it is. Seen appliances lately? I just did a few weeks ago. Busted my countertop weeks ago in the sling by dropping a plate on it while cooking one armed. A corner of it shattered so off to the BB to buy a replacement. LCD screens in the fridges, gizmos/bs, just like in the cars. Reality is enthusiasts are decreasing in numbers which is why you see less performance variants all the way around, well at least affordable ones. Motorcycle sales have tanked in recent years. Younger gen no care about riding bikes. Why? Phones, social media, streaming this or that. When phone time is #1 or social media applications are that important, why get into doing something that requires skill, dedication, and money? So if motorcycles are tanking, and millennials, many of them, don't even want to own a car, there will be less choices in the marketplace. Society is just turning into zombieland with everyone on their phone. How can we expect them to get into enthusiast anything when all their enthusiasm time is spent getting offended on the internet and complaining about it. My God if all the smartphones in the US went dead today, there would be mass suicide.
The fridge comparison was intentional... because yes, the majority of people do view cars the way we view appliances. They just want something to get them from point a to b safely. That means there's more room for compromise in what they purchase. If a particular thing that someone liked in their last car isn't available any longer, they just buy what is and shrug it off. That gives manufactures leeway to cut choices away from customers. Different viewpoints, but I think cars are becoming more similar because manufacturers are cutting the options, not because people want fewer choices. My inlaws tried hard to buy a Forester with a MT. Closest one was like 1k miles away and obviously there was no room to budge on price when they were going to ship a car to them. So they bought a CVT and hate it.

I don't think society is becoming "mcsame" I think it's just different than the society you/we grew up in and became accustom to. Every generation is different. This is the next evolution of society. We can either sit back and critique it, or figure out how to work it.... Either way, no amount of bitching is going to get it to reverse course.

^I'm a refrigerator enthusiast. 5th gen Whipple double compressor running ammonia - whole smoked pork shoulder from 210 internal temp to <40 degrees in under 8 mins.

I will always bag on it. I deal with the insanity the minute I leave the house. Drive to work, McSame idiots driving while on the phone, surfing and driving. swerving, missing lights, name it. Driveserfs. Get to work, deal with the same in the parking garage. Get into work, have to walk around and avoid people as they walk, face down, on their phones. Go to gym after work, people sitting at benches/stations, camped out, surfing their phones, adds 20 minutes or more to a busy day waiting on the idiots. Go out to eat and people on their phones, taking pics of their food. Go to a movie, people breaking out their phones interrupting the film and acting like children. Sorry, if everyone is acting like complete narcissistic ass holes, I'm not going to. If they all start jumping off bridges, I'm not going to. Ironic given all the millennial selfie taking idiots I've read taking their selfies at a cliff's edge, only to fall to their deaths. It is an Idiocracy level evolution of society into stupidity. Reality TV progs, addiction to social media. Hell even the POTUS can't seen to refrain from getting on social media applications and ranting, and generally acting like a spoiled 13 year old not getting their way. Sorry dude, no thanks. And sorry this isn't evolution, it's shear stupidity and the dumbing down of society at large. Hey remember to hit like, subscribe, and turn notifications on. CUV's, social media, phone addictions, some evolution we have going here.

If you don't like me bagging on it, as I will always do it, click ignore, as ignorance is bliss.

Arrow Here’s When The Audi RS6 Avant Will Debut In The US

Quote:
Audi is giving fans a chance to get an early look at the new RS6 Avant sports wagon before it goes on sale next year.

Last month, Audi answered the prayers of wagon enthusiasts when it announced the RS6 Avant is finally coming to America for the first time in the model's history to rival the Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon. Combining potent performance with practicality, the new sports wagon will go on sale in the second or third quarter next year, but you'll be able to marvel at it in the metal much sooner as Audi has confirmed the RS6 Avant will make its US debut this week.

Specifically, Audi will be showing off the RS6 Avant on Sunday, November 10 at the Malibu Cars & Coffee event, which takes place at the Malibu Bluffs Park located off the Pacific Coast Highway.

Potential customers can view the car between 7 am and 9 am and speak with Audi product experts. Those who can't attend the Cars & Coffee event will be able to view the RS6 Avant at the 2019 LA Auto Show on November 22 until December 1.
"Audi has a strong heritage in exciting wagon-fans around the world that have, over many years, been drawn to their design, performance and no-compromise character," said Filip Brabec, vice president Product Management at Audi of America. "The passionate response of US customers eagerly awaiting this car was the number one reason we chose to debut the RS6 Avant to our fans and enthusiasts first."

No. A bit far for me.

But I want one.

Here's some IG photos of it from this morning:

A side note: I don't think cars with all digital interiors are going to age well.

The exterior is gorgeous, I want it. I agree that digital dashes and interiors will look dated rather quickly and just get worse as time goes on. I think a really well designed analog dash will remain good looking.

eh. I'm kinda torn on this aspect... I have a digital cluster in my car, and I don't dislike it. It's largely just a digital representation of a regular analog cluster. I think the ones that try to get all futuristic and ditch the typical round gauges will age poorly - like the G70 digital dash. I think companies like Audi are taking a good approach by keeping the designs relatively simple, but just allowing more customization because it's digital... pulling the nav into the cluster is pretty cool and definitely minimizes eyes-off-the-road time when navigating.

I'm also curious to see if/when the aftermarket starts to hack these units and let you display something other than what the OEM programmed into them.

Thumbs up

Yes to all of it...except the aluminum trim inside.
Summer sunlight guarantees blinding glare.
But, that's my gripe for any car interior.

Cheaper than the Panamera Turbo, but something about the Sport Turismo just gets me hard.

One of my Neuro surgeons bought one a little bit ago while he waits for his Taycann. He took me for a spin in it and my god, I want one badly. That car is damn amazing.

The RS6 is damn gorgeous but that price tag though.
