Fine with discussions getting heated as long as it’s in line. This isn’t some hug chamber.

My comment wasn't about creating a hug fest sensitivity zone where we tell each other how special we all are, I was simply pointing out how big erm set the rules and made it a point to phrase it specifically as "absolutely under no circumstance".

I'm sure theres a thread somewhere titled "we love Popeyes" where trolls can go and post about their hate for Popeyes , or how
Chik fil a is better, or how Popeyes is ruining society by causing obesity which is driving up healthcare costs, etc etc.

I heard that the unplugged springs tend to make noises. I haven't heard anything bad about TSporsline and not much info on the Eibach

No comments about the lower than expected sales this quarter?

I guess the summon feature distraction worked. 🤣

Lower sales than expected although a record number of units sold. Margin expected to have gone down significantly. Its not looking good.

I liked when the story was "Tesla is crushing it while the whole auto industry is down!"

Now suddenly its: "well so what if Tesla sales are down, so is the whole industry."

I have never seen such fanboi base of any product ever manufactured then Tesla.

They sure as **** better have China sales pull the weight in Q4 and beyond to profitability. How man quarters of Model 3 sales lead to profitability? 2 maybe 3? Not exactly a great sign.

Tesla very quietly acquired a silicon valley startup (DeepScale) to help improve their Autonomous driving capabilities. https://techcrunch.com/2019/10/01/te...ards-autonomy/

I guess their own tech just isn't up to snuff, yet.

"But Tesla is increasing its investment in China at a time when auto sales are declining for the first time in almost three decades — and as Chinese government is cutting subsidies for electric vehicles."

This article doesn't raise any confidence in that happening https://www.businessinsider.com/tesl...decline-2019-9

Taking unplugged off the table. Heard anything about the car bottoming out on springs? We have a few days in Chicago of insane snow fall and I don't want to be plowing with my front bumper or get stuck in random parking lots if I lower it

I haven't heard anything about bottoming out. They have different height options so get the ones that you feel more comfortable with. The model 3 rides really high of the factory compared to other cars. Is probably because they want to keep the battery pack as high of the ground in case there is debris on the road or something. However lowering the car can improve range up to 7% depending on the ride height.

They just got a fat revolver with China to finance inventory in transit, and they're booking cars shipped to subsidiaries as revenue. Same as channel stuffing into dealer networks. It will take at least a quarter for that to come out in the wash, but doubt they'll ever report the initial revenue booked vs the final revenue when truly sold - probably just make up another goodwill line item to stuff it in, like they use to avoid reporting warranty claims.

While the Chinese are setting up to eat their lunch, that might not be the only thing in play - apparently having these American cars all over the world with lots of cameras and internet connectivity is very desirable. It has been a rumor for years now, but I hadn't heard it from bigwigs before recently, and again this week - huge grain of salt with this as it is still just rumor, but it would help to explain why gravity on planet Tesla has always been so low.

I'm really interested to see what the gross margin will be for this quarter. It's too bad they don't break it out by trim levels. I really wonder what the Standard Range and Standard Range + make for them.

I think I asked this once in a thread but never got an answer. Can some tell be definitively how the tax credits work? Specifically is it like any other itemized deduction or is it a direct lowering of tax debt? So with last years changes to taxes many people, myself included ended up with the standard deduction. So if you had purchased a car that qualified for a tax credit how would that work in this instance?

My understanding is that the tax credit is a straight up addition to your refund (or cancelling out of what you owe) and has nothing to do with your other deductions or what tax brackets your income is falling into. I'll find out next year when I file my 2019 taxes. The only thing it won't do is give you back more than you paid for the year (not likely a problem if you can afford a Tesla and aren't retired in some way).

I've only ever taken standard deduction.

Correct, it's a "non-refundable tax credit". After all your deductions/whatever, say your tax liability is $5k. But you have the $7500 tax credit, so it wipes out the $5k to $0, but you "lose" the remaining $2500. If you already paid the $5k through withholdings, you get it back. If you haven't paid anything yet, you don't have to pay anything else.

I think Tesla is down to an $1875 tax credit right now.

Bring back the goddam car loan interest deduction if they are going to keep offering utility subsidies for Teslas. Beyond stupid.

It's not just Tesla, any manufacturer can use it since almost all of them are or soon will be selling EVs

Most people pay Federal Taxes by payroll reduction, or if you are self-employed, you pay the gov't directly at tax time (or quarterly).

If you paid, or will pay (1099), Federal Taxes At or Above the EV Credit (and don't also use other credits), you get it all. So, if your Federal Tax liability was $10k, you get the full amount. If your Federal Tax liability was only $1,000, you get partial, but you don't get a "refund" of the remaining EV credit. You also get your overpayment refund like normal.

Most Americans with a decent job will qualify, even when it was $7500.

Not a fan of those wheels without some concave face to them. Without the concave face, they look like cheap Chinese wheels. Not digging that front lip or sides either, look cheap but maybe its just the angle of the photo.

There is some douche canoe at my gym who either wrapped or sprayed his Model 3 flat black and it looks like complete ****. It went from a car to a ghetto hooptie ride. Flat black is dumb.

Although i'm not a fan of the Model 3 in terms of looks, it does look worlds better without the wheel covers on it. I see one by my house often without the wheels covers and even I find myself saying "it doesnt look too bad."

I put this in the EV avoidance thread, but think it is worth mentioning here

As far as the looks go, I was amazed how much just a nose job helped the front.

Inherently, the best selling is the most common, the most vanilla...

Trucks still outsell all...
