Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, after learning that Tesla indeed was profitable during the third quarter of 2019, confided to this reporter: Musk: "Yeah, I was actually surprised by the news, I mean I knew we'd sell cars, but, wait, can you hang on a second; is that your dog over there?" Reporter: "Yes, that's my dog snuggles; would you like to pet him?" Musk: "Yes I would but sadly, I had to do something else; you see, I lost a bet with Joe Rogan, and now I have to fulfill my portion of the bet" *stands, kicks snuggles* "Sorry, I have to kick every dog of every reporter who will have me for an interview, so that's done then" Snuggles: *Yelps* Reporter: "WTF?!?!" Musk:"Sorry, but a bet is a bet, I've got to go now" Reporter: "I'm calling the cops!" Musk:*runs out of interview to awaiting helicopter, flies to next interview* |

![]() I don't think he was stupid enough to short TSLA this time, despite all the doom and gloom reporting leading up to the Q3 report. He may be a self-absorbed jerk, but he's not an idiot.
Model Y is looking good. I want Musk to build a square-backed brick of a family car (wagon, SUV, or minivan) after the truck, though. Hopefully they'll at least redesign the X alongside the S and ditch the stupid Falcon doors, oversized windshield, and rear spoiler. It's time to bring it down from X6 territory to Highlander/Pilot beater. |

Yep, called it. What do I win? I think q4 will be another profitable quarter and possibly q1. I see CAPX needing your return (capx was extremely cut the past quarter) which could likely yield losses for several quarters in 2020. My medium term worry is when debt payments materialize and cash on hand. On my opinion, of Tesla hits another profitable quarter in q4, I’d go for a legit capital raise (last one day as pretty ****ing weak) and just build the **** out of the company instead of this little by little process. Take a one time whack at the stock price for the long term benefit of the company and stock price. When all you focus on is the stock price, you blindside yourself to what’s actually important to the business |

![]() Interesting result...
Kind of what was expected IMO. I'm sure the next gen Model S will be faster and it obviously wins on a few metrics. Its great to see that the inevitable EV future doesn't have to look so bleak when there's competition like this. |

1.) It will dent Elon's ego, spurring the model S improvements on 2.) Porsche has a successful entrance into the EV fray, and will likely continue to improve it's cars and release additional cars 3.) It will (hopefully) spur other manufacturers into action 4.) Aside from the current price of these vehicles, this may be a "have you cake and eat it too" moment for the industry; since we aren't locking into the inefficiencies of FR layouts, or more importantly the efficiencies of FF layouts (from fuel economy and more importantly manufacturing economy perspectives) maybe we'll get some fun RWD or rear-biased AWD EV's for the masses. With fierce competition the consumer typically wins; it's not the NA V8 MT RWD situation I'd like, but at least it looks like I'll be able to go fast. |

![]() Agreed. I couldn’t care less if the P100D or whatever new model (Plaid) comes out and walks the Taycan. For me, the P100D, is insanely fast from 0-100 but it seems so stale as a vehicle. Again, that’s my opinion and everyone has their own likes and dislikes but for the traditional wealthy “car enthusiasts,” I see Porsche still earning their business while Tesla captures the more millennial, minimalist crowd.
I’m glad there are options. There will not be a one manufacturer holds the crown on everything, people have different likes and dislikes. I just wish people who are but hugging Elon’s enthusiast and the severe anti crowd would just shut the **** up already. It’s a god damn vehicle. ![]() |

![]() more competition for Porsche is good because you shouldn't have to pay the Porsche Tax to get good handling and a bit of scoot in the boot.

![]() The only think that I don't like about the video is the that top gear said that the model S run 11 seconds in the 1/4th and everyone knows that the new Raven model S has run 10.5s. They also claimed that the model S tops out at 155 mph when it goes 163mph. I think they Tested an older model S which doesn't have the dynamic suspension either. There is no mention of autopilot either.
IMO the upcoming three motor configuration is superior to having an extra gear, instead of getting increasing weight, adding parasitic loss you add a motor that is probably lighter than that transmission that actually adds power while having less drivetrain losses. The Taycan compared to the current model S is a superior drivers car. |

They did say in the TopGear video they were using the "Performance Model" not the Raven. If that's the case they were wrong saying they were using the fastest Model S available (unless it isn't available in the UK). The V-Box numbers part is interesting if true. Would be highly unlikely they got the same numbers. Either way I think the video did a good job of showing the difference between the two in other areas. They didn't show any back to back performance tests to see if/when the Model S drops off performance wise compared to the Taycan. Or run multiple laps and show the lap times increase over time. That would have been a good test. It will be interesting to see what the Model S Plaid brings and how much closer to the Taycan's price it will be. |
