![]() Updates:
It's been months since I've talked about the spare engine. My buddy and I had agreed that he'd handle the port work as he had more free time, but things have changed on both ends and they're now back in my hands. I'm trying to get the spare motor together and rip out the current one for maintenance, It's at 160K and is leaking at the passenger side VC. Here's how I spent my thurs & fri night. *Open to any pointers, if you see it, call it out; please and thanks!! ![]() ![]() I've setup the intake side, still needs some finish work before I move onto the exh. sides. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks Master.C. It's been a blast to create. Definitely a car to enjoy despite all my headaches. I wouldn't change it for the world... well except for an S209. Which is nothing special but I'm obsessed with the design. |

![]() Updates:
Exhaust side ported. After reading some literature on thermal coating, I'll be doing a smoother pass on the exhaust side and playing guinea pig with some thermal stuff both intake and exhaust side. * Right or wrong, I've also been thinking that I'm going to treat this head to a set of +1mm valves, future prep in-lieu of the "spoolinator" w/ a G series turbo, which will one day replace the vf48. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Revisited the intake ports just a skosh ![]() |

![]() Man do it! That's how these platforms progress! Someone steps up and starts the new standard. I was researching tbc coating as well. I was looking at swaintech.com.

![]() I can't really say this is proof, but if their findings are true, it's good enough to try. As I do with anything implemented, kind of just have to take it all in with a grain of salt. Gain one, loose one. Meaning, you always gain something at the expense of something else.
here's the info. that has me heavily considering this http://www.motortecmagazine.net/the-...valve-engines/ |

![]() Not much progress on the port work as I've been pre-occupied with the holiday season, but I was forced to do some emergent repairs as the radiator core gave way this wk. I also addressed the leaking reservoir at this time as well.
![]() it was a Saturday, nothing else was in stock, and for 1900 pesos I couldn't pass up the allure of an aluminum rad. ![]() ✔ - chassis mounted splitter making simple repairs complicated ![]() hoarded this for a few years, no extra expenses here. ![]() Everything buttoned up, using oe coolant. Noting my observations:
![]() Backlog: misc images on SVNR's, Cut my front inner fender, lowered the car in the front as well as increased front shock preload +5mm, put my enkeis back on, installed front strut bar ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() found the all flavor no grease truck in pomona, so while waiting I snapped an iPhone pic, not the greatest but I like the natural flares
![]() sti door panel install completed all 4 ![]() Suspension noticeably drives better, I can say at 180 shipped these ebay coilovers aren't a bad option in a jam; is that me saying run out and buy them? not at all. ![]() Small update, still working on the ports, I'd say about 99% done. I've also been reading up on cams and valve train. I'm leaning towards BC atm but I may have to buy seats & guides from GSC. Quite an experience for my first time doing sub heads. I learned a lot more about bits and speeds thanks to these heads. The exhaust shape still bothers me a lil bit; I have one trick left to "circle" the exhaust sides back out, we shall see.
![]() ![]() As for the car itself, yesterday I installed some ebay visors that were laying around. Their image was misleading; reselling is becoming a hassle; decided to use them for now. ![]() Today - dealt with a flat repair. Glad my coworkers noticed this just before I clocked out (3rd alignment coming soon, lol). ![]() ![]() While attending to the flat repair I noticed a rear flare had broke away from it mount. I 'll have to ID the cause. By the way the tab is sheared, tells me that I could be rubbing when the shock is compressed - entering/exiting steep driveways. My only in the moment, on site fix, was some JBweld. ![]() Tech-ish Suspension - car is currently doing things I do not like, especially in wet weather. I'm going to replace the rearward LCA bushing, front control arm bushings, and transverse links even though they appeared to be in great shape, I'll recheck all suspension sameness F/R and get the car aligned once more. I'm awaiting to see what's going on with the "GC8" before I grab some new suspension to pair with these mods. https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/sho....php?t=1796712 https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/sho....php?p=8384387 |
