Default Need JDM EJ20 Legacy Motor Specs from the past

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with where to find some info. I am looking for detailed specs on older (93-98) JDM turbo Legacy EJ20s.

Specifically I am looking for Compression Ratios/Injector Sizing/and whether they are closed or open deck blocks.

If anyone knows a good site to research this info please let me know.

Thanks
Brad

There are 4 different motors between 93-98. 1st and second generation, and then automatic vs. manual version for each generation. I may be able to dig up some information with more specifics.

Cheers,

Paul Hansen

Smile Paul is gonna put his anorak on for this...

...but for now:

Nope, no closed decks here.

Sorry, I don't have any info on injectors, but suffice to say these engines don't have huge headroom built into the specs, so the early EJ20 TTs with 250ps are probably small, while the 280ps/260ps versions since won't support much more than 320ps without very careful tuning (not to mention the turbos run out of puff there - actually they are running out short of that ). They also hate low grade fuel.

Compression is a good question - my early BE/BH is 8.1 (and I think my old BG5B was the same).

I could have sworn I read somewhere that the older JDM EJ20 Legacy motors that made around 250hp were closed deck and had something like 9:1 compression and larger injectors then the same year WRX EJ20 that made 260hp. Just the WRX had a larger turbo and better piping.

It doesn't make any sense but the spec sheet I remember reading looked very legit as all other information seemed right on.

Speaking of the EJ20TT motor. I have long been wondering if there are any tricky computer controlls handling switchover and other such aspects of that turbo system

Please correct me if I'm wrong: Are both turbos the same size? I once read that both turbos were the same size just one kicks in down low and the other is added in later for more flow.

I guess what I am really wonder is the upgradability of the turbos on the B4 motor. What would stop you from putting larger turbos in place of the tiny ones that are currently there? I'd love to have that low end grunt with good top end flow characteristics.

Thanks
Brad
