I couldn't agree more. And we'll see what Toyabaru does with the next generation of 86. I'm genuinely excited.

We're living in a golden age of ICE performance here. The next couple of generations (from most manufacturers) will move electric or hybrid. And that's OK, but this upcoming generation of cars will be exciting if not a swan song.

Ironically I'm way more curious about that car than anything else coming out in this sporty coupe category. I can't get over the front end of the Supra, and it's not unlikely that this next Z car is more or less the outgoing one with a different motor and aesthetics (and perhaps a few handling tweaks here and there but probably nothing earth-shattering).

I'm all for crazy amounts of hp and welcome increases of it, but when we all talk about wanting a two-door sports car that:

* Looks good
* Has lots of power
* Handles well
* Isn't pig-heavy
* Has a suitable transmission
* Costs "around" $30k

Car makers generally won't be able to build something that is going to mark off all the boxes, at least not now (or in the recent past). Personally I'd be fine with sacrificing some power for all of the other things. So let's see what the next 86 offers.

Yeah the only color I liked was black for the silhouette of the car so mine is black. I too had a hard time liking the Supras facia especially in other colors.

I got use to it and now feel the car is beautifully designed. She is sitting 2 ft from me right now.

This and your base price of $35K seem pretty likely/ideal and bonus: would be absolutely amazing news for tuners.

Damn! Really? All internals the same, exact same liquid to air coolers? F me. Sign me up for the 300 HP version Either way, 300HP or 400HP version, is going to get tuned. That's some good intel there.

not really - i have a Q60 Red sport. in addition to the tune, the Red Sport has different gear ratios, an optical turbo speed sensor, a secondary water pump for the heat exchanger, an oil cooler, bigger alternator, upgraded interior w/ semi-aniline leather, Red brake calipers vs silver brake calipers, different wheels, and unique exhaust tips.

if i was buying new, not sure that stuff would be worth the premium over a lower model, but i bought it CPO 1 year old, and saved $23k over sticker.

its my daily driver with a CPO 7-year warranty, so i didn't want add 100+ hp and kill the warranty. just keeping it mostly stock.

Yeah, I figured there must be some difference, but regardless, most of the tuning packages I've seen are available for both. The water pump/oil cooler is the real news/difference there, but I imagine aftermarket is probably better for those parts anyhow, rather than swapping in the RS's stock units.

Id go Jaguar again with the F-type. It worked with the e type in 68.

That Targa Z is part of what pushed me to build the car I built. I kept it mostly stock in appearance for road rallies, but just improved it in all the areas, suspension, brakes, engine, etc. Just make it better in every way without cutting the car up. I had thoughts of going coilovers, and getting serious about doing a targa, but the most aggressive I got was the Texas 1000 road rally. So many cool people and so much fun driving.

I hope they find that fun to drive spirit again in the new Z

I have been playing with some easy styling tweeks based on the F-type and the 240Z.

These are rough and modest, but I think they make a difference.

If you're going to use a body colored bar to split the grill it should be done in a way to match the original S30z design. More specifically the bar should be higher up making the top grill more narrow and the lower grill larger in opening. This is how the S30z bumper was placed and how it split the grill on the original car. The way you have it placed looks out of place. Then again, I'm an old school Z enthusiast

I was following the current grill divide.


You should like how I lengthened the hood by 4"
