Seriously, do you know for sure that what you say is the case? What if all of the recalled vehicles exhibit issues, and that, in turn, expands the search for other potentially affected VINs? If you're sure about the recall, fine. Otherwise, you're a very well respected Subaru "insider" on this forum, and if you exaggerate what you know, it may be taken with less than a grain of salt...

That is all I implied, not that you're a fanboi or wrong; just questioning whether you have any real data or are simply posting as one of us civvies.
Yeah. Sorry. The beginning of my response wasn't directed at you. What I heard surely isn't "official"; but, I believe the info I got from it. The VINs that are ultimately affected, this is quite the issue. But, with what I was seeing with that info, I don't believe the overall numbers of VINs actually affected will be the number put forth.

What I mean is how does a manufacturer know what cars are affected by any particular recall? Once they've identified the issue, they know when those vehicles were made. And, apparently, very accurately if they can say "293" cars. Why didn't they say 300? And I'm calling it insignificant because they had already sold over 6000 of them when this came out. I'm not a math guy; but, isn't that a little less than 5%? And THAT is IF all of them ARE affected.

And if you do know me, then you know I just try and give the info I have. I don't try to exaggerate. If I do, I usually try to make it obvious.

Those 293 cars will come in. Get inspected and those that are affected, get new cars. This will be over in less than a month.....

Thank you - great response!

If you know me (99.9999% don't), you know that I do a lot more reading than posting. I appreciate the few who post worthwhile posts here, including you...MOST of the time

To your point, the 2005 Legacy was airbag challenged from the get.

The 2005 LGT was challenged in a lot of ways. Great car, but it had its issues. Rattle trap right off the dealer lot. Yet, I miss that car.

Not so sure about the Ascent... I really cannot fit much into it...
Subaru had to even send three to me in order to pack my keys, toothpicks and gum...
At least I can tow the other two and swap them during long trips. Time will tell...
Otherwise I'm just going to get the VW Atlas, such German engineering

So I did a LED interior light swap on my Ascent. Who can tell me how to get to the license plate lights without breaking anything?

Don't be ridiculous. It's a new car and new software, at least the specific code is new. Therefore it's much more likely to happen and be found in the first year.

I just found this out today and am absolutely not buying a 1st year Ascent. maybe not even 2nd year.
