P1312 - Exhaust Temp. Sensor Malfunction
I just pulled this code from my car.....(2002 WRX)
Does this typically mean that the O2 sensor is screwed? Maybe we goofed it up putting in the new up-pipe & downpipe? (installed them 10 days ago) Any thoughts? Should I just order a new OEM 02 sensor? Last edited by Kenneth2000; 01-21-2002 at 10:12 PM. |

Check again to make sure their aren't additional trouble codes stored, like P0545, P0546 or P1544. If P1312 was the only code stored, then you'll have to replace the EGT sensor (NOT the O2 sensor) which is located on the uppipe.

egt sensor malfunction
i am interested in how this was handled. i have an aftermarket uppipe and downpipe as well, and my egt has decided to quit?

I happen to subscribe to the theory that the EGT sensor mounting bungs used by most aftermarket uppipes do not allow the sensor to seat properly. This leads, according to my theory, to either a loose sensor or to sensor damage. There probably was a reason why the Service Manual cautioned that the EGT sensor must be oriented in a particular way in the OEM uppipe.

egt sensor
My stock sensor went bad and caused my car to be a paper weight. I finally made SUbaru change the egt probe at MY expense and that solved the problem. $80, then install ed by Subaru only.
This is upseting of coarse. |

Question: I have a megan downpipe and a stock uppipe with the EGT, and a p1312. Should I do the resistor mod or replace the EGT? Thanks for any advice...

OK so I went and did the resistor mod and after driving for about a half hour the code was still on so I cleared the ECU. I drove another half hour and so far no code... but I've been fooled before

I enjoy talking to myself I guess. Maybe it will help someone some day... 70 miles and no cell. Should I get my hopes up? Hard to believe $1.20 in resistors can fix something
