oil leak from avcs solenoid? 2019 sti
Hello nasioc,
Found this oil leak from the driver side avcs solenoid. It's not major leak, only a couple drops between oil changes. Engine is completely stock, only 5000 miles when noticed this issue. I know it's covered through warranty but I would like to have a more specific answer here before sending my car to the dealer... It looks like the oil is seeping from the two bolts with "8" on them(I circled them in the pic). Any suggestions, advices appreciated! Thanks!!

Nothing to say or discuss really. The "8" is the rated strength or hardness of the bolt.
Have you checked the oil level? (overfilled, etc) New car, something leaking. Take it to the dealer. Maybe they weren't torqued to proper spec, maybe something else, but like you said, it's covered under warranty. |

My issue as well!
Hi there, this thread is quite old and I'm not sure if this may be visited again but my issue is the same, oil dripping from the bolts on the underside of the driver-side AVCS module.

Bump. Me too same bolt and all on newly assembled shortblock. Initially thought I screwed up exhaust cam gear seal but still not quite sure. Thought someone might offer some insight before I pull the darn timing off to get the gear off and inspect.

that pic to me looks like the solenoid o-ring is leaking...would recommend clean and double check as it could have dripped from somewhere else...

Cleaned and used a different o ring along with new gasket torqued 7ftlbs and still leak. Original gasket and o rings looks to be fine, just thought I’d mention that.
I can see oil off bolts furthest away from solenoid so looks like it’s coming off that end, not like the picture as I initially thought. Exhaust cam seal maybe? |

Starting to think there is an issue with my mating surface. Will try brand new oem gasket tomorrow but already tried two and same issue, dripping from opposite side valve furthest away from solenoid.
